Bude mystery walk
A great way to explore Bude, an entertaining day out. Exploring the town and learning along the way. Fun clues and information, a great day out for the family.
Excellent app
If you like exploring Cornish towns whilst solving a mystery, this is for you. Each one gives you about four hours of engaging entertainment in the fresh air whilst exploring parts of Cornish towns that you won’t have seen before, even if you are local I could write reams about the functionality, but why not download it for free and see for yourself? I thoroughly recommend it. Excellent value for money.

What a wonderful way to spend my birthday. Fiendishly funny clues and gentle walk in a beautiful location
An interesting walk
I’ve now done 4 of the Mystery Walks and I’m a great fan. They are a brilliant way to get out and about and find hidden routes in places you thought you knew! The app has clearly been developed with great care and attention to detail and is the right level of fun and challenge. Would highly recommend trying one.

A perfect activity for a cloudy day!
These are a fantastic way to learn more about the town they’re based in & see bits you didn’t even know were there, whilst having great fun solving puzzles en route 🙂 There are 11 currently live on the Mystery Walks in Cornwall app, featuring towns & villages throughout Cornwall. This one took us a little over 3 hours, a perfect activity for a cloudy day!

Could be better
In this day and age with technology, the user experience could be a bit more interactive.
Felt a bit long winded for the price of a quest, which at £15 I felt was quite steep. Often taking you off piste away from main thoroughfares and my 6 year old got bored 1/2 way through. It might be worthy talking to local businesses to get them involved as a guy at the Stable I spoke to hadn’t even heard of this app.

Response from developer
As the app states, it's aimed at adults, so is probably not an ideal match for a 6-year-old. £15 for several hours entertainment for a couple or group is good value. It's an outdoor activity so the considerations are different from an indoor interactive game designed to be played in a low-glare, quiet environment with no distractions where there aren't stunning views to take in. The testers that have tried each of the mysteries found the balance about right. The routes are intentionally designed to explore some of the less obvious parts of coastal towns (typically earlier on a route) as well as the well-known parts (typically towards the end).
Port Isaac, The Town Crows challenge
Whoever put this mystery walk together is an absolute genius!! What a great way to explore a new area. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible and not patronising either. There was a few family arguments about who got the clue solved first and a few tears from our VERY competitive 10 year old when her sister beat her to it… but it was definitely a team effort that got everyone involved.
We have never seen our 10 year old run uphill on a walk 😂 and she has declared it one of the best mornings of our 2 week holiday here in Cornwall from Scotland.
Clearly this took a huge amount of effort, passion, imagination and local knowledge which is greatly appreciated. We’ll definitely be trying out another mystery next year.

Fun & informative!
We have now completed two mystery walks - Tintagel and Boscastle - and found both to give us a good walk around each village whilst highlighting some of their most interesting features and fun facts! We found them to engage not just the adults but the kids (9 and 11) too and would highly recommend for something different to keep the whole family entertained on a visit to Cornwall. Thanks to the authors!

Brilliant day out!
My friend & I have just completed the Bude mystery walk, our favourite so far! We had great fun solving all the clues to find the answer to the mystery, whilst enjoying a lovely walk around the area & learning all about Bude’s rich history. Once downloaded the walks work offline so no need to worry about a signal.
Would highly recommend!

A great way to explore a new location
We’ve done three mystery walks this year, in Porthleven, Falmouth and Looe. Each one had its own story to tell and our objective was to solve the mystery by finding clues as we toured the town. It was great fun to do and a fascinating way to explore the location while tackling the clever brain teasers. You are reminded in the instructions to have a phone battery pack with you and that’s important. I’d recommend the walks to anyone, especially newcomers to Cornwall. Thank you to the designer😀

This is our third mystery walk and it was as intriguing and thrilling as Porthleven and Falmouth yet totally different storylines. I thought I knew these towns well but the mystery walk took me to colourful fascinating back streets that I would not have discovered otherwise. I recommend the app to anyone who loves a walk through streets full of character while challenging your brain to solve puzzles.

Something Different for some family fun
Me and a friend have tried a few of these and i have to say, what an innovative way to do an escape room! you can’t get lost, the app will take you to places you might not explore if just visiting for the day and the puzzles are pitched just right whether you are young or old. all in all a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a few hours and i look forward to doing the rest!

Absolutely fantastic app, a walking escape room!
Have recently completed the Perranporth mystery walk with my kids. What can I say, I don’t normally write a review, but I feel this app doesn’t get the credit it deserves.
We live fairly local and I thought I knew perranporth, but this took me to a places I didn’t know existed. The east to follow clues take you around the outskirts of town to some lesser visited areas that are well worth exploring.
I was worried we wouldn’t get all the answers and would be stuck, no worries there, we had great fun trying to work them out, but there is a hints which gives you a series of clues to eventually give you the answer if you’re really stuck.
How the app designer has put this together, I’ll never know. It all links back to each other (all the answers you’ll need are in your backpack).
The mystery, for those who know perranporth, is based around a fictional yet real event in Perranporth each year and is a great storyline.
For those of you undecided, just download it and go spend a few hours in Perranporth, then head to the beach or grab some fish and chips and an ice cream, you certainly won’t regret it.
I’m looking forward to trying some of the others, some of which are in places I’ve never visited.
If you like an escape room and you like walking, THiS is the app for you.

Absolutely brilliant – so much work has gone into this app! 🧩
I absolutely loved using Mystery Walks in Cornwall. You can really tell how much time, thought, and creativity has gone into it. It’s not just a walking app – it’s like going on a real-life treasure hunt through some of Cornwall’s most beautiful towns and villages.
The stories are so cleverly written, and the puzzles are just the right level of challenging to keep things fun without ever getting frustrating. I also appreciated the little details – clear directions, offline access, and even handy tips like where to park.
Honestly, it felt like the creators poured their heart into this. It’s such a unique way to explore Cornwall, whether you live here or you’re just visiting. Highly, highly recommend!

Fun day out
As the app suggests, the overall experience is akin to a good quality ‘Escape room’ except with a bigger room (a town or village) and often with great views. We have done 2 of these so far and have thoroughly enjoyed both. They provide a fun day out for 2 or more people and therefore very good value for money. The app gives you suggestions on where to park and navigates your there and then directs you to the start point of the town/village you are going to explore. From there, each new direction has to be earned by solving a variety of puzzles and finding things all within the narrative of a story. We found that doing half followed by lunch before completing it was optimal for us. Took us about 3 hours of ‘work’ to complete. Some of the puzzles are quite tricky, but there are several hints available to help you if required so you will never be completely stuck. The app itself is slick, well designed and works without the need for a cell signal. I recommend reading the ‘before you go’ section as it provides useful and some essential info. I thoroughly recommend this for a good day out. If the above appeals, why not download the app, it costs nothing to do so, and have a look?
