Best Big Fish game ever!!!
Technically OK but I never got into it
The plot never really crystallizes, and the ending to the main game is abrupt. The bonus chapter is very brief, so it doesn't make up for the shortcomings of the storyline.
However, the graphics, cut scenes and soundtrack are well done, and there is a good blend between HOPs and minigames. Most of the HOPs involve multiple steps, and they are a strong positive for the game. Also, the developer provided not only a set of collectibles, but souvenirs that you can gather from designated scenes after you have completed the bonus chapter.
The controls need some work. Difficulty is not configurable. Touch sensitivity for items and movement is erratic.
On the whole, this was a game that I looked forward to finishing, so it's difficult to say that I recommend it. If you can buy it on sale, you may find it worth your time.
Great game play, but story is not very convincing
Not bad
Cons: words are tiny and unable to see what items were actually being picked up. Prices of games should be a lot like it use to be, not these prices of $4-7 a game.
Change those items and you might have a decent game.
Myths
Best in this series
Very good
Myths of the World: The Whispering Marsh by LynxMinx
Terrific game, EIPIX! Are you actually reading our reviews and taking them to heart? I think that's the case, DTE, because first of all this game was longer than some of their previous ones, and had a lengthy enough bonus chapter. There were 3 levels of difficulty, but still no custom or left-handed mode. The graphics were haunting but beautiful, with lots of emerald, jade and other green hues (my favorite, as my eyes are green and exquisite!)
There was no journal, but there were journal pages to find to keep track of the story. Objectives were regularly updated. At each location you must find a cleverly hidden acorn for an achievement. Loading was quick between scenes, and there was a marked (if so customized) teleport map to transport you. Inventory was labeled, and there were complex items to assemble. The HO scenes had some variety, and you could find morphing objects in some of them. As an alternative, there was mahjong to play. You have a magic lantern to use to dispel evil lights. I didn't like the mini-game to use it though; it was a bit hard to manipulate. However, I liked a lot of the puzzles because they were a bit different than the usual boring rotational junk. I liked the one with the dice a lot, as well as the one where you have to find your way through a dark maze, and another where you must navigate a river while avoiding obstacles. It was a good mix of puzzles; there was something for everybody. I appreciate that the map tab was an in-game tab, which is something many of us have complained about to EIPIX. The hint system was of the non-spoiler type. Gameplay was smooth and I didn't experience any glitches or crashes. Extras included wallpapers, souvenir room and a lore book. No rodents except for in an HO scene. So EIPIX I am being generous with stars today!
Lynxie sends โค๏ธ๐๐ to the DTE, especially Dracyy and KimTwilight! Thanks for having my back and looking out for rodents!
