App is good but now it’s glitching?
I had tried this app in 2023, came back to it and it’s still glitchy like the layout button keeps on blinking and not all cards show. I’m not good at story writing still and I came back to this to try it again.
Seriously amazing.
Not only is Mythulu the most useful creativity sparking tool I’ve ever used, it’s also innovative, affordable, and fills in voids I didn’t know existed.
I’ve been working on a new story setting for a couple of months now. I installed Mythulu last week, messed with it a bit, and sat it down. Today, I read more on the website, then decided to let it inspire me to create a single animal for this setting.
After reading the spread and drawing the cards, I went on to fully develop the concepts that sparked, and now my world has a favored common pet! Something I’d never even considered until now.

Beautiful cards
I love all the art work, very visually stimulating, which is great because I’m a very visual person so each picture made me think or feel something even before I read the prompt. It helped me reveal things I already knew within my story/idea but hadn’t fully fleshed out or comes to terms with. Definitely recommend to help in character and story development!!

Great Art. Great Concept.
The overall concept is great: draw cards to provide inspiration for creating fictional characters, settings and more. The art is fantastic. The descriptive text is clear enough to provide guidance and vague enough to allow a range of interpretations. One issue I have with the drawing templates provided is that you sometimes get a card which requires you to draw additional cards. I’ve been unable to find a way to actually do that without replacing the original card, which is usually a modifier.

This is an amazing tool for storytelling. I have had the cards for years. The app I love when I am writing away from home. The new update is brilliant!!!!!!

If there is one flaw in the app that I can think of it’s this: the web site provides recommendations for what to draw dependent upon what your looking to create (character, setting, etc.). It would be great if those were either built in or creatable as reusable templates (which should be customizable so users can adjust them to what works for them), which could then be used with a single click. Maybe that could be added as a feature in a future release.

App says I have 5 coins but won’t let me use them
Plus the app feels unfinished. No updates in 3 years. Abandonware. Too bad
Keeps forcing shutdown/app closure
I was interested to check out the app prior to buying the decks when I saw them on IG. But after installing the app just keeps force closing. Maybe it’s just not compatible with newer IOS but it’s a major glitch and lack of detail that makes me hesitant to get the cards. I’m not sure how an error of this size could go infixed. I’ll try to reinstall in the future and will update my review if anything changes but for now it’s one star as I can’t even use it at all. Hopefully if it’s a new issue it will be rectified soon.

Formatting & Layout Issues
I was beyond excited to download this app and utilize it in my writing to stimulate the creative process - the paper version is, of course, endorsed by one of my favorite authors (Jim Butcher)!
Unfortunately, the formatting issues as displayed on my iPhone 11 Pro Max are utterly distracting interruptive to the creative flow. The cards themselves have beautiful background art, but often, the formatting leaves the text cut off in the sides, and you’re left guessing and filling in the blanks as to what some of the descriptions are.
Many of the navigation buttons are in illogical places. The primary navigation being at the top of the screen, and overlapping the time and battery/WiFi/signal symbols.
While I’m sure this is a wonderful product in hard copy, the application itself is altogether lacking in cohesion and missing a “finished” feel.

Clever
I have to say, I was surprised by this. At first I was confused on how it worked, but I got the hang of it. I like how detailed the descriptions are. I don’t know what it is, but the descriptions paired with the visuals inspire me. Well done.
Inspiration Starter
A great app that generously included the entirety of Starter Pack A. It’s so cool that the creators made this resource available for free.
Amazing
This app is amazing for creating characters, settings, and different creatures. I haven’t had this app for long, but I’ve used it so much. Even if you don’t want to use the cards for writing or prompts, the art is amazing, and the card descriptions give you a whole new abstract outlook on very concrete things, like insects and scales. GET THIS APP IF YOU HAVE WRITERS BLOCK/ARTISTS BLOCK. some of the combinations are completely nonsensical, which makes them even better. Once while generating a child character, I drew cards that had the properties of an assassin who lives in a graveyard. This app opens a whole new world of possibilities, and I urge you to get it if you have trouble coming up with new characters.
