The redesign is horrible
Last week, this would have been 5 stars. I am neurodivergent- I went with this version of n-back because I enjoyed the icons at the bottom, not words, and the sense of competing against myself. Obviously there’s a countdown to finish but it wasn’t in your face. NOW? BIG countdown to start the came “timer” at the top to show number of turns left, nonsensical icons (note for sound, but the ear made more sense), all about rankings. I used to have fun and score upper 90’s or 100, now I am lucky to get in the mid-70’s. The game didn’t get harder, the interface got more aggressive and triggered all my neurodivergence.
Competing across the app with others is fine, sure you have to look for that - who cares…but this X-TREME Doritos/energy drink/sports/yelling nonverbally “makeover” is complete garbage. What makes this n-back extreme is the addition of colors and shapes, not this design nightmare. As a former creative director, I see right through the visual bs but as a neurodivergent? This has become counterproductive.

Love it!
This is a really great app. I just have a couple requests. My phone screen is small, so when I do quad nback, the icons overlap somewhat, making it more difficult to press. Perhaps you could utilize the entire space below the grid as buttons, rather than limiting the presses to the actual icons. This would make it easier on a smaller screen. Also, a landscape mode would be great for making longer sessions more comfortable. You could put the icons to the left and right of the grid when in landscape mode. Thanks for the great app!

Also poor statistics
Add features to threshold accuracy before progression. “See stats” just shows what N you got up to that day.
