Sell out.
Before this was the best dual n back app, it was free and interface is great but I guess the developers weren't happy with being what people needed & decided to add a pay wall. They sold out & now I gotta find a new app if I want to play my full 10 minutes a day. Shame

Hi Brain-kun. My earlier reply here was wrong, and I am sorry for it: the daily limit on n-back training has not been removed. Free play is three Dual N-Back sessions a day, up to N=2; unlimited sessions and higher levels are part of Pro. What did change since your review: every Cognitive Lab game is free and unlimited again for everyone, and every offer screen has a close button. No subscription is required to open or use the app, but free training has limits: the Dual N-Back mode, three sessions a day, up to N=2. Almost great
It is feature rich and seems to be completely free as advertised. I would rate it 5 stars but have come across one issue and one missing feature so far holding it back.
The triple n back mode that utilizes color, one of the colors is red and one is pink, among others like green, blue, purple, yellow. The red and pink are way too similar. I’m not sure how this made it in to be honest. The test is about memory, not discerning colors. Use white or orange or anything that isn’t so close.
Also, it should allow mixing and matching variables. Let me play triple mode but with position, audio, and shape, instead of color. Also, having color as the third mode as it stands makes it so color blind people are at a disadvantage. I see no benefit to having the modes locked as they are currently.
Love the app and looking forward to updates and improvements.

Hi purpyslurpy, thank you for such a precise review. Both points are in the app now. The color set was reworked: the pink that sat too close to red was replaced, and one of the six colors is now white (black on the light theme), as you suggested; the set was also checked against simulated color blindness. And a Custom mode lets you choose which variables to track, for example position, audio and shape without color; it is part of Pro. My earlier reply called this work in progress; it has shipped. Apart from the social aspect it would greatly enhance the game if there was a daily game tracker for streaks for accomplishing certain daily goals

Thank you — and both of your wishes are in the app now. Game Center is built in, with leaderboards for each n-back mode, for your longest streak and for the Lab games, so you can compare with friends. There is also a daily goal: you choose how many sessions make a day count, your streak builds from it, and it shows on the home screen widget. My earlier reply called these plans; they have shipped since. Happy training!
