I hope this isn’t an insult, Narrator.
I’m very sorry if it seems like I’m insulting you, but I do not recommend this app for people who want to be an author and have an audiobook for their story. The voices are not expressive enough, and a way to fix that is maybe having a setting that changes the emotion of the voice that’s speaking. It’s also not realistic enough, which means that it’s WAY too AI and nothing that says “I’m a real human!” in the voices. And the way they read, geez it sounds like that they don’t wanna be there. That they sound so bored and have no life in them. 100% deleting the app. But the opinion that matters most is the app’s creators. If they feel like that suggestions by viewers should be done, then they’ll do so! If not, then they wouldn’t. No matter how many times you beg them. Their app, their choice. So that’s what i have to say, to the app’s creators, and the viewers. Goodbye!

Pretty good!
This was just what I was looking for! I’m a kid who loves making stories, and I was able to put it on this app! I do wish that the voices were more expressive, but I understand that’s probably impossible. Overall, 5/5 stars! Definitely recommend it.

The amount of times this app has saved me the last few years because I hate reading! I love that it has a less robotic voice than most other readers AND it’s free and easy to use!! Highly recommend. Great app.
Outdated voices
The voices sound like their from the ancient times when we were just amazed our computers could talk at all. Now they are just hard to listen to. Especially for a monthly fee.
Scam
This app makes you pay to use “premium voices” that are literally made by Apple. Why would I pay you for a voice you did not make. You’re charging me to use something that Apple made.
Ripped off
I got scammed out of $37.08 for triple subscription of same app same overlapping year.
I Got my 1st premium subscription to narrator app for 1yr on July 1st (free 1yr app advice offer).
Then a week later when i tried to use app I found out none of the premium features were available, so I hit “restore previous purchase “ from inside narrator app.
Well IT CHARGED ME for 2 more CONCURRENT years / MAKING THAT a total of 3 subscriptions for the same one year on same Apple ID - charges $00.00 on July 1st, then $14.99 then $19.99 on July 5-6 for total theft of $37.08.
I reported this to Apple & it refunded me $14.99 BUT DENIED refund of $19.99, I realized i didn’t mention date of prior acquisition for the same one year just a few days prior for FREE with AppAdvice promotion.
Take Note: at time of the $14.99 & $19.99 charges I already HAD a current subscription that I ACQUIRED July 1st for the exact same timeframe . them charging me $14.99 & $19.99 under “restore purchase” is THEFT by deception. They have refunded $14.99 but owe me $19.99 also.
So want my $20 refunded now.
Additionally Please make sure I can still access to premium features as per the 1yr i acquired at $0.00 from July 1st.
Send me my REFUND FOR $19.99 now or credit card fraud will be reported to my CC.

Great app
Affordable, nice, but the ai voices could be a bit smoother
Good app
I love taking runs or bike rides and listening to my favorite audio books. But I especially love listening to my own creations. I loved this app, but unfortunately I decided to delete it. Two things were very difficult for me. First, you must type your story at once, because you cannot save it. Once you log out, you may not continue with your project. Second, the voices are ear splitting. They are so AI that if you listen to them, you can even hardly recognize what they are saying! Thus, making my experience not enjoyable. And so, I deleted it.

1999 mechanical voice
This app is really bad. There’s nothing “AI” about it. It’s a straight up 1999 text to speech. It’s embarrassing really compared to what the simplest text to speech models can do today.
I can’t believe anyone would pay $15/month for this.

Okay I was freaking out that the app stopped working but I guess it was just a transition to a subscription model. A dollar or so a month is not a huge amount but if you’re going to do that then I’ll have some criticisms: You better have fixed that dialogue problem with google docs where it will take sentences in quotations, split them in half and put the second half on a line before the first half. I can’t check rn but you should fix that thx. I’ll probably cave and get the subscription soon but the couple days it was gone I’ve found some other solutions(not as good but functional) so I might be able to avoid it..

OH NO I loved this app but since yesterday it no longer works. It crashes every time I try to open it. This was my favorite app. I would spend hours on it everyday. IM SO SADD RIGHT NOW. I’ve tried everything! Restarting deleting offloading. I’ll give it some time and hope a miracle happens but right now I’m devastated. ————————————————————————————This app gives us back the text to speech voice that IOS used to have a couple of pdates ago except better. You can read the book or click on any line and it will start reading there. I have no idea why the developers of Apple decided to remove this better text to speech voice from the standard settings but I’m glad to have it back again. The other big app(speechify) only has the new voice iOS voice as free and its very robotic and awkward and reads punctuation out loud so don’t bother with it. This app is the best! And free! Thank you!

Great for books, but crashing a lot.

Best way to listen to free audiobooks
This app is free and just as good if not better than the expensive apps like speechify. My only complaint is that sometimes the app will only play if I leave the app open with my screen still on which I think is a glitch. Other than that it’s amazing.
