Foundational — all kids need to master this
This is pedagogically excellent. My son enjoyed using it and finished all the puzzles in a couple days. It showed me he had numbers sense already, and while I realize he could have learned more from this a year or so earlier (he is six), it was valuable because it improved his speed in solving. That’s valuable.

Used to be good
We used this over a year ago and I wanted my child to go back and work with it as a review but all the data was lost and even trying to setup a new dashboard it no longer works.
Love it, BUT!
I love the app, the number sense imbued in the levels is fantastic. I love how mastering one level unlocks the next, very motivating. One big problem - the trophies. As soon as my child realized the meaning of the different colors he was no longer interested in learning the numbers but instead was working only for the gold trophy. And the first time he didn’t get one he was in tears and no longer interested in the app at all. This is a textbook example of being “punished by rewards”. Please include the option of turning off the trophies and stars. Progress bar and accuracy/speed markers are fine as objective feedback, but the “ranking” and reward associated with the trophies are detrimental to the learning and ultimately made this wonderful app unusable for us. Developers, please read Alvie Kohn’s “Punished by rewards”and continue with your fabulous work! Thank you!

Fantastic App for Early Number Sense
This is one of the best apps available for early number sense. The adaptive, mastery based design provides my students with individualized instruction. The dashboard allows me to see when and where they are struggling. I've now used this with over 250 students. I love that the app includes mutliple non-symbolic representations, as well as symbolic, and students develop fluency in using each of these interchangeably. The best quote from one of my students was "It's just like learning, only fun."

Great app!
Great app! Really fun way to learn math facts!
Huge progress for my granddaughter!
My 8-year-old granddaughter had been struggling with Everyday Math curriculum and it had been identified that she was weak in number sense. She started using Native Numbers last fall and she loves "playing" it. Just 15-20 minutes a few times a week has made a HUGE difference! She struggled with the first level, but now that she mastered that things are really clicking! She has the number concepts down and is moving on to number relations! And she's doing so much better in school, and is back to grade level!!
I love that you can go back and do the early levels any time you want, but you can't move ahead until you have the foundation solid. My granddaughter will often try a new level, then go back to one of her favorites - thus reinforcing the lessons!

Fantastic app
Fantastic app. Has really engaged my 4 year old and builds strong understanding and fluency of numbers.
Quite good
I do like it a lot but it could be improved. Hopefully new features will be added soon.
Needs teacher/parent controls
A key suggestion:
Allow parents to decide which lessons are unlocked, this allows for differentiation for different children, or to meet the needs of your child. A child should not have to work through all levels to get to the lesson that matches their levels and needs.
Also, it was confusing to begin with rods (continuous quantities) for my young child who was still working with one to one correspondence. I would like the option to return to this lesson, but not begin with it.
Until the parent/teacher has more ability to match lessons to the child's educational needs, I can't rate it higher. Splashmath allows the parent/teacher to assign lessons, and this is very helpful to use the app as either a learning or review tool.
If the app adds this feature, I can revisit my review.

Excellent app
The games are entertaining for my child and I love the methods. Very clever and well-designed app!
Thank you for the confidence and excitement...
Your App has single-handedly made my PreK graduate a numbers lover! My son used to be "allergic" to numbers - no interest whatsoever. We put the iPad in front of him yesterday, and got immediately hooked! I am amazed how quickly he understood the rods and quantities. He got up this morning, and 1st thing he wanted to do was try the numbers game. He was so proud as the stars lit up, and he progressed to new levels.

Perfect app for serious learning in school or at home
I've worked in educational technology for 15 years as a teacher, administrator, researcher, and consultant and this app may have the most ingenious instructional design I've ever seen. It forces children to grapple with CONCEPTS of number, specifically to understand equivalence relationships among numerosity, magnitude, and numerals.
The surprising fact is that many (if not most) children learn math as a set of rote procedures without ever understanding the meaning of numbers. Native Numbers helps teachers and parents equip their students and children with a solid foundation of number sense that will become even more important with the transition to Common Core State Standards.
Native Numbers is also perfect for serious learning because it's one of very few apps with an online dashboard so that student progress can be conveniently monitored in one location. The dashboard makes it easy to see whether students are making good progress toward full mastery or need some support to get past a sticking point. As a result, teachers can be confident that students are actually learning something during their iPad time.

Wonderful to develop number sense
As a second grade teacher, I would only use this app with students who have very underdeveloped number sense. However, for younger students this is exactly what is needed to really develop an understanding of numbers. Well done!
Great sequential learning for numbers
I just downloaded this app and it is awesome. Learning numbers and one to one correspondence through visuals. Kids like this and adults will enjoy watching the kids make connections and learn number sense by using the Native Numbers apps.
Brilliant!
That's what I tell my kinder students as they progress through the levels of Native Numbers and it's what I want to tell the developers of this app. It is the BEST math app that I have purchased (and I have a TON of apps). Worth every penny and then some. HIGHLY recommend this app if your child or children in your class are struggling to master number sense. My kids have transferred what they have learned exploring with real Cuisenaire© rods to the app and vice versa. Thank you for this well designed app. Keep bringing us apps like this, NativeBrain!

As a Dad, I am thrilled
I was a teacher for years, and as a teacher I would have loved this app. Now as a Dad, I love watching my daughter learn fundamental math skills. This amazingly done. I love this app.
Great Math App for Kids
I typically do not spend any $$$ on apps, let alone $10, but this app is worth it.
I have three kids (ages 2, 4 & 6) and they all enjoy playing Native Numbers. I was skeptical that they would play it more than once (I've got a ton of non-educational apps competing for their attention), but there is something innately engaging about the app that seems to draw them in despite the absence of grunting pigs, cars, trains, swords, fruit, or any other familiar game image/icon.
All three of my kids have benefitted from the app, but I have noticed the biggest impact on my 2-year old who now understands what quantity each number represents, and relationships between numbers.
I would definitely recommend Native Numbers to any parent of young children and hope Native Brain develops an addition/subtraction/etc. app as a follow-up.

Best math app available
Best 10 bucks I ever spent. Seriously.
This app is not math "junk food" like many of the other ones I have tried. This thing is the real deal.
This is by far the best math app out there, and it may be the best one period (are there awards for these things?) My 4 year old went from zero understanding of math concepts to a math whiz, all through the use of this app.
I pride myself on the fact that I do my homework on these apps, and this one has both solid learning concepts behind it, plus my daughter LOVES it. She wants to play this above all other games, and the reults are amazing. She demonstrated her math at her preschool, and the teacher wanted to know what the app was so that she could recommend it to all the other parents. Its nice to know that I can leave this in her hands while i do something else (like drive or make dinner) and she will continue to learn. There is even a board that you can use to check to see how your child is doing.
The website has a lot of information about the concepts behind this app, and reviews. If you want to make sure that your kid can get ahead in math, then use this app.

Speaking as a teacher and a parent, I love this app!!!!
As a teacher I love integrating technology into my curriculum. I have been using this app with my kindergarten students! It's fun and educational. I love using the dashboard so I can see what is happening while my students work on the IPAD. It also helps me with keeping documentation on my struggling students :) I can print out the dashboard for my records to show my student's progress! I would recommend this app for teachers!!!!! You can add all of your students on the instructor dashboard and monitor their progress !!!! Great feature for teachers!!! Parents you will love this app too!

My 5-year old will play this for an hour
My daughter is 5 and in kindergarten. She loves this game and I am astonished at how long she will sit quietly playing it. It's definitely helped her math skills, and she is truly excited to learn.
