The NatureCounts app has been an absolute game-changer and blessing for community science projects focused on bird conservation! It’s so easy to use, intuitive, comprehensive, and reliable! I love using it for my Atlas checklists and appreciate the prompts for breeding windows and how it can track my distance and location accurately.

Great app! So easy to use!
This app is fantastic for collecting observations of birds and participating in citizen science! I use the app to conduct different bird surveys for the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas and the app interface is super user-friendly. The app allows you to easily pin species locations on a map, conduct point counts while seeing distance bands over satellite imagery, search species, and it evens flags records when you enter an unusual breeding code. Such a great alternative to using hand-written datasheets!

Great App for atlassing!
The NatureCounts App is well designed and makes submitting data to the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas (2021-2015) so much easier and faster. If you tried it in 2021 and ran into issues, try it again because it has improved so much it’s a new App! I really love the integrated caution alerts that pops up to remind us about breeding safe dates, and pop up notes regarding particular breeding evidence for certain bird species. I also love that we can edit our track right on the App and see the atlas square border clearly. If you’re contributing to a Breeding Bird Atlas, I highly recommend using this tool!

Great improvements
App is running so much better with the new updates. Going through the checklist is much easier and I’m no longer encountering issues that were there in the past. It has made contributing to atlas’s much easier.

Always glitchy and way harder to submit data than it needs to be. Needs a lot of work.
Offline
I’ve downloaded and tried this app several times. This time it’s telling me I’m offline when I’m not and I cannot submit my drafts of which I have several. There is no where to find information on this or what’s going on.

Absolutely useless
Will not work on my Samsung phone. Says I have no wifi on my two Apple IPads as well. Not a good start for the Ontario BBA. App needs a serious overall. Avoid the frustration, wait and hope it gets fixed.

I’ve been trying to use this app for uploading Ontario Atlas data but it’s always tells me I’m off line... which I’m not.
Glitches and Hard to Use
The app kept crashing even after I reinstalled it. It would stop when my phone went to sleep or I checked another App. Also the app was awkward to use. It was really frustrating to switch between My List and the main menu to add a new species. This app was way inferior to the eBird mobile app. I will not be using even though I want to contribute the Breeding Bird Atlas.

Data not uploading
I like the features BUT I can’t get it to upload data. I’ve deleted and reinstalled. It says I’m offline- I’m not.
