About

NCTRN is a quiet home for your lossless collection. It is built on one idea: the music is the center — not the app, and not your attention. No streaming, no ads, no accounts, no recommendations, nothing to scroll. NCTRN is fully offline and makes no network connections at all. You put your albums in; you press play. AN ALBUM PLAYER Albums play the way they were made: in order, gapless, start to finish. Cue sheets split single-file CD rips into proper tracks, sample-accurately. Multi-disc sets keep their discs. Favorites is the one list — for the tracks you love — and shuffle re-orders what's coming without ever interrupting what's playing. BIT-PERFECT WHERE IT COUNTS NCTRN asks the hardware to run at each file's own sample rate, so nothing is resampled on the way to a USB DAC or wired output. The player shows the true output rate at all times — and tells you honestly when a route (Bluetooth, the built-in speaker, CarPlay) has a fixed rate of its own. EQ off means bit-perfect: the audio path does nothing at all to your samples. YOUR FILES, YOUR STRUCTURE Import album folders from the Files app or iCloud Drive, or copy them straight into NCTRN's folder from a computer — a whole collection at once, in whatever Artist/Album layout you keep it. FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and CAF play losslessly; MP3 and AAC play too; cue+bin CD images are split into tracks. Album art comes from your folders, or set it yourself from Photos or Files. Nothing is ever altered, re-encoded, or deleted behind your back. TUNED FOR LISTENING A per-ear ten-band equalizer with named profiles and live preview — off by default, because your files deserve to speak for themselves. ReplayGain album tags are honored when you want consistent loudness across albums. A sleep timer fades out gently. CarPlay brings your albums, favorites and now-playing controls to the car. Siri plays an album with your phone still in your pocket. PRIVATE, ACTUALLY NCTRN collects nothing. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no network code of any kind — verifiable with any network monitor. Your music never leaves your device. For people with a well-kept collection who want to hear it — and then put the phone down.
