Create a room, turn on Personal Hotspot, and let nearby devices connect through a QR code - no internet and no cloud storage required. HOW IT WORKS 1. Create a room on your iPhone 2. Turn on Personal Hotspot in Settings 3. Share the QR code with the sender 4. They connect via any modern browser or the NearDrop app on iPhone 5. Files transfer directly over your local hotspot network KEY FEATURES • Offline transfer — files never leave your local network • Browser access — senders can upload without installing an app • QR code connection — Wi‑Fi credentials and upload page in one scan • Chunked transfers — stable speed for large files • Room password — optional protection for your session • Transfer history — review past transfers on your device (free in v1.0) • Bilingual — English and Traditional Chinese BACKGROUND TRANSFERS Large transfers may continue briefly while the app is in the background or the screen is locked, but iOS limits background execution time. For very large files, keep NearDrop open in the foreground when possible. PRIVACY FIRST NearDrop does not require an account. Files are transferred device-to-device on your Personal Hotspot. We do not upload your files to our servers. REQUIREMENTS • iPhone with Personal Hotspot support • iOS 17 or later • Sender device must join the same hotspot (via QR scan or manual Wi‑Fi) • Camera permission for QR scanning (optional manual room code entry available) Note: iOS does not allow apps to turn on Personal Hotspot automatically.
