A ton of potential

Disregard the reviewer that clearly doesn’t know the difference between ML to AI. The app creator has other apps that operate similarly long before vibe coding was even a thing. I am a long time user of SoraSns.
Neo is getting better but also constrained by some of the work being done on Matrix, even the apps Element has noticeable issues due to development.

Response from developer

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your kind words. Developing apps by myself is hard, but encouragements like yours give me the motivation to keep going. I’ll try my best to keep updating SoraSNS and Neo and making new apps. Thank you for your patience while I resolve issues and improve app bit by bit. At any time, please do feel free to ping me in the app by tapping the ? button, and I’ll work on it right away. I wish you all the best!

Best Matrix client on iOS

Neo has become my favorite Matrix client on iOS. It supports important Matrix features that are still missing in many other clients, including Spaces and thread support, which makes it feel much more complete for real daily use.

The first few versions were not fully polished, but the app has improved a lot over time. The current version feels smooth, reliable, and pleasant to use. The developer is also responsive and clearly cares about improving the experience.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a modern and feature-rich Matrix chat app.

Does not work

None of the features work on this app. Do not use it.

Response from developer

In V10.0.1, SSO login is fixed, and threading support has been added. Also, issues with room message loading has been fixed. Please try the app again. Thank you!

Clearly vibe-coded app with AI shoved everywhere and paywalled core features

ui is clearly all shamelessly vibe coded with Claude :/

want to join the official support room linked in the already very lacking user settings page? good luck - fails with “Failed to get room preview object for the room id or alias”

AI features egregiously shoved everywhere, useless “news” page that doesn’t offer any matrix-related features and is of course “curated by AI”

Chats are disorganized and notification bubbles are WAY too big, such a UX smell that it isn’t even funny.

Folders?? When spaces literally already exist to serve this exact purpose at the protocol level.

Locking gif picker and custom emoji reactions behind paid subscription is crazy when the only other features offered in the subscription are AI driven from fedi content, RSS reading, and generally problems that other softwares solve already.

Kinda cool in theory, horribly executed in practice and purely AI generated :( Fluffychat sucks but even slop dart/flutter apps are better than this

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest feedback :-) I’m sorry the experience felt rough :-| One thing I do want to clarify is that this app is not AI-generated or ‘vibe coded.’ It was first published before the vibe coding became a thing :-/ It is hand-built and maintained on top of a Rust/Matrix stack, and each release involves a lot of manual engineering work. The news feed also comes from decentralized Fediverse sources; That said, the bugs and UX problems you ran into are real. However, in V10.0.1, SSO login is fixed, and threading support has been added. Also, issues with room message loading has been fixed. Please try the app again. Thank you!

SSO doesn’t work

I can’t even log in with SSO. As soon as I try, it gives me the error “Cannot get the URL for SSO login.”

Response from developer

SSO login has been fixed in V10.0.1. Please try the update. Thank you!
