Good color app

New update has most features not working sadly.

Love the simplicity and function. Gives me inspiration. It’s not the only color app I work with, but I love the widgets it provides and the functionality. The creator(s) did good. Also, if you don’t wish to pay for it, the ads aren’t too invasive. This developer does seem like they were aiming to create something helpful and in the very greedy modern day of the app market, I commend anyone willing to be reasonable about their apps. Apps cost time and money to create. Many are greedy beyond words. But a few, like this one shine through and deserve a nod and some compensation for their time if you can spare it.

Requesting updates

Hello.

I’d like to request a better onboarding process with steps. The user has no instructions. Thanks

Doesn’t work

This app just straight up doesn’t work. I couldn’t save any of the palettes I tried to make. It’s simply awful

needs work.

half the of the features in this app do not work. lie creating a gradient? nope. Sharing? nope. saving a color you edited? nope. I wanted to like it but it has to actually work if i'm going to pay for it

Really fast and unique features

Just discovered this app and really enjoying it as it’s different from some others I’ve used in the past. Particularly like the automatic gradient feature using the camera, super slick. Keep up the awesome work!

Response from developer

Thank you so much!

Great tool for getting the Hex, RGB or CMYK codes for either photography editing or for interior design. Better than paying £95 for a Nix colour sensor.

Thank you so much for this review. Means a lot!

Needs To Improve Functionality

My rating would've been higher if I was actually able to use the app. The app itself seems amazing and as an artist I would use it daily if the option was available. I was only able to try the features a couple times before the pop up came up saying that if I would like to continue I needed to purchase Neon Pro to be able to capture unlimited colors and gradients. To put out a free app and then make the users pay for the main feature is ridiculous. If you want someone to buy your app, make it $1.99 to download it instead.
Making the Image Pallet Stickers, Alternate App Icons, and Random Gradients behind a pay wall makes sense, they're additions that won't take away from the main function, the apps purpose, and the apps general functionality.
The ICloud Sync feature I feel shouldn't be behind a pay wall either, it's a complete pain, but at least it doesn't make it unusable and pointless to download.
If you were to put additional captures behind ad walls so for instance watching an ad and then getting 5 more captures, I would definitely continue using your app. It would be a bit of a pain to some, but I don't mind watching ads for apps that I love to use and serve their purpose(especially ones that do it well).
If you ever decide to update your app and make it more functional, I would love to use it again. I think it has a lot of potential and would be very helpful to many artists like myself.

Sorry. You need to look away from your privilege and realize there’s a major time cost involved in making these apps. Nothing is free. The free version is only meant to act as a trial for converting users to the full version. If I give away the main feature of the app for free there is 0 incentive for anyone to buy the pro version. Thanks for your lovely star rating. Have a wonderful day.

Image Formats

Really like the app so far! Please add the ability to save color tile as PNG, Bitmap, etc.

Perpetually Crashes

I have reinstalled this app at least 10 times. Each time I get one clean run out of the app and the every attempt to reopen it after the initial opening after (install/reinstall) is an immediate crash. Title screen pops up apps closes.

Response from developer

Really really sorry for this. Can you help me out by tweeting @neontheapp or sending an email to neontheapp@gmail.com with the iPhone/iPad model and the iOS Version you’re on? Also, please check if you have enough iPhone storage because sometimes iOS might kill the app if there isn’t enough storage available. If you can send a tweet or an email that’d be great. Thank you so much and I’m sorry once again.

You cannot make gradient from picture

I bought this app to make gradient from colors I choose on my photos and not having to use my laptop for it and it’s not possible to do it. You cannot make gradient from an image or preselected colors only from a picture you take live while on the app.

Response from developer

Nowhere in the app description was it mentioned about the feature you’re talking about. Nevertheless, just to inform you this feature is coming soon but if you feel cheated please feel free to ask Apple for a refund. A bad rating hurts an indie developer and especially during hard times like these.

Unable to pick specific areas

Update: The developer added the ability to tap a specific point in an image to sample.

Second update: initially I didn’t realize it did display RBG and HSL values because it’s not displayed in the initial sampling data. You have to actually save the color to your library. Which is a little clunky and unintuitive.

Hard to tell from the description and screenshots. But you can’t tap to pick a specific area of an image and get the color data.

It only pulls the most significant colors from the image. Definitely not helpful for my purposes.

Response from developer

Really sorry :( This has been on my roadmap forever and the next update will bring tagging to the colors and the ability to pick colors from any part of the image. Sorry for not being able to meet your expectations. Hopefully the next update will rectify the error. Thank you for using Neon.

This is the greatest color app

For any design purpose. For capturing colors. For capturing color gradients and color ranges.
This is the app you need!

More sorting and perhaps folders or categorization would be awesome.

Response from developer

Love to hear that you’re liking Neon and Thank you for the suggestions!
