Broken. Not worth the subscription.
It loads after about 3 cycles of open and close and 15 minutes. It doesn’t keep the download between sessions, so it won’t work offline. It refreshes the random page at random when reading. Terrible. Is it so bad just to encourage script subscriptions?

I catch public transport and New Scientist is always interesting and accessible.

The magazine covers a diverse range of topics and is impossible to put down halfway through the book.

I love my New Scientist subscription as a former career health professional and conservationist I enjoy learning about new technologies to support life on our wonderful Earth and human health & wellbeing. I share interesting articles with my family, including my ever curious elder Grandchildren.

Too many of the articles in health and psychology seem dumbed down.

I really enjoy being able to read snippets from science authors, especially as being freely available, as a retired scientist, affording paywall is off putting!
Great content, App could be better
After subscribing to NS since 1974, I was keen to move to the iPad version as soon as it was available. The early version allowed a full download of each issue as it became available. I was able to finish the previous issue and move on to the next while out and about offline. Now, I have to connect to get the articles and images as I read. A minor annoyance usually.

Navigation of New Scientist
I pay my subscription every year but have great difficulty finding the full articles. I should not have to be verifying through traffic lights. I should be able to tap a link in the article in my inbox. Inputting username and password doesn’t work When I use the app I cannot find the original article . There must be easier ways of doing this

Terrible onboarding. Total rip off
After paying a subscription I received an email with a ‘activation’ button. Entered all the details but when submitted it just returns you to the same page with all the details blanked out. I tried it about 10 times with same results. I have no password and the password reset button doesn’t send an email link so I’ve paid money and have no way of logging onto the app to read the articles. Waiting to see if I get any response to my email of complaint . Never seen such a poor onboarding process.

The app does not store your scroll position
When you switch to another app for more than 30 seconds and back again, the app refreshes the article list and so loses your place in the article scroll view. This is an absolute pain.
We need NS to help us understand a constantly changing world

New Scientist is quick to pick paradigm shifts early like the one in the treatment of obesity created by the GLP-1 inhibitors. Anyone who wants to keep abreast of all major advances in science in the context of an analytical framework that includes political economy and ethics should read this brilliant magazine

Very interesting
Interesting and credible chunks of information about science stuff.
Synaesthesia and colour/letters
I had always envied people with some form of this mixing up the senses ,from an artistic point of view ..how much more you could potentially do.
I would like to know how notes are perceived as colours ..or how paintings of various combinations might smell or taste ..even sound.The process of multiple sensory perception ,they say is reversible so all sorts of mental overlays potentially exist ..quite possibly to the annoyance of ‘always on’synaesthetes .
Until this morning reading New Scientist on the phone ,I never knew we the readers could comment or review the magazine ..which I think is valuable usually in these times of climate crisis and uncertainty.
Why not a comprehensive study of Synaesthesia ..it’s associations of the senses with examples of art (the colours and composition)interpreted by different forms of ‘thesis’..
