No pictures load
Terrible, clunky app. No pictures load for any news story, just grey boxes. I want to support the free press but this app makes it hard.
Mostly accessible
The majority of the articles published in the paper are accessible to those of us using voiceover. If they can find a way to make the puzzles and content under diversion accessible it would then be worthy of a five star rating.
No new content
No new content! Where is new content in the app? Looks like nothing has been updated in a day or two.
‘Fast’ focused news
Don’t have time to comb through the paper to read what you are most interested in, use news break / breaking news to quickly target your ‘must see now’ articles. You can always go back for a more in depth read later.

Good Not Great
App is great as a news reader but search is spotty and some news stories have a delay getting into the app (I just looked for a news story published 3 years ago and it’s not coming up, even searching just based on the reporter’s name). For what we pay for an annual subscription we should have news stories a available at the same time they’re originally published.

Newsbreak Broken
The breaking news segment of the app seems to work fine, the NewsBreak area not so much. There have been articles kept in this area for months at a time without recent content added. Recently this area doesn’t load anything for the last two days. As a digital experience it is subpar.

You can access the breaking news section but that is all that works. Many other options ( local, sports etc) but they never open. Ever.

Downloaded and all I get is cannot connect to server. App doesn’t work at all.
Poor tagging
In the News Break section there are articles that have been there for over six months. Other articles don’t show up in the right place or are important to find. I like the concept but there’s room for improvement
Breaks a lot & sometimes has news several days old
As the title indicates. And Breaking News section contains day old news at times. No way to force a refresh of news.

Frustrating
A partly read story will revert to the beginning if the phone goes to sleep. Very frustrating. Developer unresponsive. 4 stars for great content, 1 star for clunky app.
New is great. App technology needs work.
As above, the news is great. However, the app needs improvements. The links to previous articles take you outside of the app, and requires you to sign in to a WFP account on a web browser; not ideal. In addition, the app often crashes (signs me out, or shuts down). I really appreciate the great news that WFP puts out, so it would be great if the app worked with more ease.

News is good; app is buggy and crashes too often
I’m on iPad on latest version of IOS; since one of the more recent app updates, the News Break app crashes every time I pick any section other than “News Break” and “Breaking News”. If I want Winnipeg Jets, or Diversions, or anything else, it crashes every time. I see that other people have the same problem. Also, sometimes the articles don’t open when you click on them in the right side panel. Please make the app work like a real app that you want people to use. Oh, and now it frequently and randomly asks you to sign in. Reducing my rating by another star.

Great things can happen….!!!!
The Winnipeg news break app is what we needed for a long time. It’s not only informative, but we as readers, feel a sense of belonging, because we can provide feedback to the many journalists who write the articles and make the news known.

Excellent articles. Easy to use.
