What's New in Next Batter Up

5.4.9

May 5, 2026

Now you can trim your announcement files right inside NBU (and again, no in-app purchases, this is just a freeeee extra, winky face). The whole trim screen got a glow-up too: bigger waveform, pinch to zoom, scrub by half-seconds, loop the selection while you nail the edit. Now you have way more control when cloning a team or a player. Got a travel team made up of half your regular squad? Clone the team, deselect the kids who aren't going, rename it, swap the team photo if you want, and WA-LA, head start baby! Same deal for cloning a player to another team: their intro audio and walk-up song come along for the ride. Now explicit songs on the player card playlist get that magical little "E" symbol, so you know which ones might be inappropriate (because the parents are here, ya know). We all live in dark mode, I know. But this update also fixes some light mode hiccups where titles looked missing when really they were just colored wrong. Sometimes you're popular, you forget to flip on Do Not Disturb, and a phone call or notification cancels the introduction of your ball-players. No other apps handle this, so we figured we'd be the first. NBU now recovers from interruptions gracefully and keeps the show going. Sometimes you're not sure if you accepted Apple Music permissions, or if you're even subscribed to Apple Music. No worries, we got that handled too. Head into Settings to see your subscription status and whether NBU has the access it needs. Importing a team from a friend used to fail sometimes, and you'd retry until eventually it'd stick. Fixed. Finally. We're talkin' first-try success now. The song title on the player card was a little weird-lookin'. We un-weirded it. Yup, that was the fix. Remember those text-to-speech intros you set up like six months ago that mysteriously never played at game time? Turns out they were saved in a format the playback engine quietly hated. The first time you open this update, you'll see a quick "tuning up your walk-up tracks" screen while we convert them in the background. Now they actually play. Better late than never, right? Walk-up announcement longer than the song clip? The song ending used to chop the announcer off mid-sentence. Rude. Now the song waits its turn like a polite young man and lets the announcer finish their thought. Fixed a tiny gremlin where the music's fade-out would sneak in one last little volume surge right at the end, like it was trying to steal the spotlight from your announcer. The gremlin has been evicted. "Delete all data" used to be a single tap away from regret. Now we make you type the word "delete" to confirm, because we've all had that "wait, did I just..." moment. Now you can't, unless you really meant to.

Music not playing

Seems fine at first but a waste of money because the app glitches and won’t play the music after announcements. Annoying to go through the trouble just for it to not work.

Great app!

Great app. Elevates the experience for the players and crowd. The app does what it says beautifully and the support by the developer is superb. Helpful responses within minutes of texting. Personal and invested support. The developer took my suggestions and within days the app was even better. Well worth the one time fee. Sad the season has ended, yet future team parents will continue to use this app. Highest recommendation!

Needs work

Starting out this app seems like it would be such a great asset, but there are plenty of features that are absolutely flawed. The clone feature does not clone everything over. Each time you clone somebody you have to re-add the announcers spiel in the middle of the song. It doesn’t just follow over from where your previously had it.. 88% of the time when I play the batter walk up song the announcer doesn’t announce the name or the number like it’s supposed to, it will mute the song, but the announcer never says anything. As much as I think this app would do amazing things there are still some flaws that need to be fixed because so far me paying for this app was not worth it.

Response from developer

Kattt2611, Thank you for the criticism, it was well deserved. There were some major issues with player cloning in the old 5.4.8 version. I completely remapped the cloning feature in 5.4.9, new UI, more options when cloning a team, fixed an introduction bug that would totally cause the issue you described above. On top of that I found that our audio engine for intros wasn’t happy playing different types of audio formats. In version 5.4.9 we’re automatically converting all those audio files to the proper format for you. The laundry list was quite long. I understand the frustration, and I would be frustrated too. If it’s not working in 5.4.9, please reach out, you own the app forever and I am very sorry this has happened to you/others. Even if things are working better now please reach out; as reviews like this tend to keep me up at night kicking myself. Hope to hear from you soon or see the updated review reply. Cheers.

Love!

I’m new to being the walk up song mom and originally started with another app (won’t name names but I think we all might know) and quickly got frustrated with lagging etc. I heard about this app through another mom and it’s been SO easy to maneuver and best of all, NO LAGGING! Customer support responds very quickly if you have any issues and are super informative! 10/10
