great app for collegiate rugby recruitment

No Parent/Agent Linking

One of the personas left out of this app is the parent and/or agent who is responsible for fielding inquiries on behalf of the student athlete. What would be useful is the ability for a parent/agent to create an account and link it to their athlete as their representative.

Response from developer

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback—we really appreciate you taking the time to share this perspective. We do currently support parent involvement on athlete accounts. When an account is created, both the athlete and a parent can have their own separate login credentials, allowing parents to help manage communication and recruiting activity alongside their student-athlete. At this time, we do not provide access for agents or third-party representatives. Based on consistent feedback from college programs, the overwhelming majority of coaches prefer to communicate directly with the student-athlete as part of the recruiting process. That said, we’re always looking to improve the platform and value input like yours as we continue to evolve.

Payment

I think this app is like really cool but I have to pay $200 just to be able to put in video clips of me, I feel like that was the whole point of getting the app for me because I heard from a coach about this app but I feel like if I can't put in a video how am I supposed to get recruiters attention....

A class by itself

We (Babson College Men’s Rugby) were introduced to Next Phase after 2022 CRC & I regret not paying it much attention then!!!
We landed 3 very good players for the Fall of 2023 without much “recruiting” and I realized we needed to step it up or we would have a couple great years and fall into the typical cycle.
I started putting in effort to recruit in Jan 23 by attending a few ID camps, but the real progress came from Next Phase!!
Babson/Olin are very niche colleges and have very tough admission standards - which is why I didn’t put much energy into recruiting as I felt the ROI was very low.
However, with Next Phase’s ability to set parameters for GPA/ACT/SAT and Major (along with several key data sets) allowed me to target prospects with a realistic ability to be admitted AND who would be likely to have an interest in Business or Engineering. This provided the ability for me to search and contact players while in “idle” time during the week (in line at grocery store, grabbing a bagel, riding as a passenger or just taking a break from regular work…3-5 minutes a day. Every Sunday I sent template emails to those players who accepted my request to contact; that allowed me to start a more personal conversation with those players.
Through out the 2023 year, we had interactions with over 150 potential prospects. Most of whom I would never have known about!!!
We managed to go from 3 prospects applying in for fall 2023 to 22 prospects applying for Fall 2024!!! We had 13 prospects do overnight visits and all but 1 (Philippines) do campus tours.
The biggest testimony to Next Phase is that the majority of our current prospects wouldn’t have dreamed about Babson/Olin due to not knowing how unique and amazing each of their academic programs are for their ultimate goals. Both colleges admissions teams have been blown away by how many students we’ve introduced to the college through Next Phase!!
DM me at Babsonrugby for more specific testimony!

Next Phase we be a critical component in our goal to continue to build upon our recent success!

Mount St. Mary’s Men’s Rugby

Next Phase Rugby is the primary online tool we use to connect with student/athletes for our rugby program. It allows us to reach players nationally and overseas. It also allows players to reach out to us. A fantastic tool for our recruiting efforts.

Great App

Next Phase Rugby has been a useful tool in discovering and connecting with high school rugby players from around the country that I would otherwise not have knowledge of or access to.

It allows our coaching staff to actively search outside of our geographical region and identify candidates who have the qualities and ambition that we look for (Experience Level/GPA/Interested Major), while also giving players a platform to view their variety of options.

Disappointing, but solid potential

Cons :
- not many major rugby colleges actually on the app
- impossible to search by division

Pros :
- good college-general and rugby-specific info
- app works smoothly, and fairly fully featured

My conclusion :
- useful if you are interested in playing rugby for fun at college
- useful if you don’t have a structured rugby cv set up already
- not useful if you are serious about rugby (best to contact the main college coaches directly)

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to review Next Phase Rugby. We appreciate your positive comments about the general and rugby-specific information, as well as the app's performance. However, we would like to clarify a few points regarding your concerns: ---- Search Functionality: Our app indeed allows users to search by division, including D1, D2, and small college categories. More so, users can refine their search based on program type, such as NCAA, Varsity, Athletic Department supported, and Club programs. This feature aims to provide a comprehensive and user-friendly experience for all rugby levels. ---- Coverage of Major Programs: On the men's side, we're proud to feature all of the NCR champions, just under 70% of the CRAA top 25, all of the Rugby East teams, and many more. For women's rugby, our app includes 83% of NCAA teams and a wide array of D1 Elite, D1, D2, and Small College programs across the country. We continuously work to expand our coverage to include as many programs as possible. ---- Direct Contact Information: To assist users in their rugby journey, our app provides direct contact information for college coaches. This feature is designed to streamline the communication process and eliminate the need for extensive searches elsewhere. ---- We understand that our app may not meet every individual's specific needs, but we strive to cater to a wide range of interests within the rugby community. We are continually working to improve and update our app based on user feedback. If you have any further suggestions or need assistance with any features, please feel free to contact us directly. ---- Thank you for your support, and we hope you continue to find our app useful for your rugby endeavors.

Account Creation Problem

The app when opened takes me right to the login page with no option to create an account?

Great

This app does a great job of connecting students with their dream rugby programs. 10/10 for me.
