About
**Nil is a puzzle where clearing the board and making music are the same action.**
Swipe across a 4×4 grid and every tile slides at once. When two tiles of the same color meet, they cancel, vanish, and leave a note behind.
**WHAT'S IN IT**
A loop that fills as you play. Every pair that disappears leaves a note, and that note keeps playing underneath you. The color determines the note. The row determines how high or low it sounds.
There are four bars to move between, so you can lay something down in one and build against it in another.
Eight worlds. Ascent is struck wood. Ember is something in the dark. Neon is analog synthesizers. Glint is a music box. Each world has its own instruments, scale, and colors. Moving to a new world changes what you play next.
A sky that fills as the board empties. Clear the board completely and it leaves a light above it. The light stays. Nothing counts it, nothing unlocks from it, and it is never taken away.
Swipe across the lights and they play over whatever the loop is already doing.
**Hold to stop time.**
A colorblind mode keeps every hue distinct.
No score. No timer. No way to lose.
Pick it up for ten seconds or ten minutes.
No push notifications. No streaks. Nothing waiting for you tomorrow.
No account. No ads. No analytics. No internet.
It works on a plane with no signal, and it never sends anything anywhere.
**PRICE**
Nil is free, with three of the eight worlds open.
The other five are unlocked with a single one-off purchase. That purchase also covers any worlds added later. There is no subscription.
If you never buy it, nothing is withheld. The game is complete the first time you open it.
**WHAT'S NEW**
