Ningenius review

Ningenius is a good app for learning notes and it is fun. However it is repetitive and can get boring.

Cool

Fun for music

Fun

It's great for my kids. I wish we could organize by classes so it would
Be easy to setup and have my trumpet class do.

Love it!

I love the app because I teach piano and strings lessons as well as band. The only thing I wish for pano would be that noted appear on the grand staff. Otherwise I love the app.

LOVE THIS APP!

This is app is insane! I cannot even tell you how much I appreciate having all the instruments available! For a school that teaches multiple instruments this is the BEST VALUE out there for drill work! Plus it's fun and addicting!

If you are a school- GET IT!
If you are a parent with musicians- GET IT!

Have some fun and learn at the same time!

Great for band

Really a useful app for having students practice note names and fingerings without having to take the instrument home

Wow!

I've been using this app in the classroom for some time. It is great, but it was missing the ability to customize the range/notes and if we wanted to use it, it was limited to beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Now we can work on what we need! Kids LOVE this app and suddenly, besides playing scales, it helps them remember all of their Fingerings!

Great start!

I'm a private teacher who teaches piano and woodwinds. I love have individual student scores and different instruments. This app will get five stars when I can choose the range of notes for a student to learn and practice.

Response from developer

Thanks for your favorable review. I wanted to let you know that the new update (1.2) does indeed allow you to choose the range of notes for custom tests, and you can create and and name an unlimited number of customized tests for all instruments. I hope you and your students enjoy this new feature. Please let us know any other features you would like to see added as we want to continue to make the app better and better.

Fun app for students!

It has been fun getting students acquainted with this app. The scoring system is a plus as they work to earn the highest score. I would love to see chords added to this app in the future.

Excellent app, but could use few more features for classroom use

This app provides an excellent reinforcement of note learning and instrument fingering for young band students, and they love doing it!
However, it would be nice to be able to set up a 'class' and have a login for students using the student version, so I can track student progress from the school app. In that case, 30 students using different iPads could compete during class or at home, and the teacher could track their progress, amount of playing time, etc. It would also be great to have an overall leaderboard for beginner, intermediate, etc.

Great, but pricey

Really like the app, but awfully pricey for a teacher on their own dime. Enhancement ideas: music theory rounds, ability to upload CSV sheet with student names from Drive or Dropbox, ear training exercises.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review and ideas! One of the new features of the 1.2 update is exactly what you have requested...a CSV export of all the data captured by the app. We plan to continue to add other music theory tests and improved features to the app, so don't hesitate to contact us with requests. I also hope that with some of the powerful new features you will feel like the app is worth the cost...especially considering that you will continue to get free upgrades for life. Best wishes!

Great app!

I love the app. Engages students and motivates them to improve. I want one level to be added - the "ningenius" level to include the chromatic scale (sharps and flats) so that students learn early on how to recognize any note, not just flats. Change the current "easy" level to "Beginner," change the name of medium to "easy," and so on until you can insert the new "Ningenius " level.

Thank you for your favorable review of NinGenius Music! I wanted to make sure you know that the new update allows instructors to create unlimited custom tests, and hope you find this feature does most of what you are requesting. A future update will definitely include options to choose which enharmonics you wish to use in each default and custom test. Best wishes to you and your students!

Fun and effective!

This will be great for my piano students!

Gamification At Its Best

I’m a band and orchestra teacher that teaches beginning students. I’m still incorporating this app into my teaching, but it is a FUN way to learn fingerings! I have projected it onto the board so that the whole class can watch as one of the kids tries to get a better score than me (hasn’t happened yet!) and they are hypnotized by it. I’m excited to structure ways to involve the whole class and pit them against each other to improve their understanding of the fingerings. Cool app!

First year instrumentalists need this!

I am a beginning band and choir teacher, and I am so excited to have this app for my school. My students have started using it, and it is a fun way for them to learn basic note names and fingerings.

Finally I don't have to kill and drill this information. The app does that work for me!

And they love it!!!

The leader board motivates them to try again and again.
