What's New in Nitro Photo

2026.5

June 2, 2026

USABILITY AND PERFORMANCE * Improve performance when arrowing through images especially outside of Edit. * Improve performance of metadata display and Exif display. * Arrowing through images now scrolls to keep the next image visible to provide better context. * Thumbnail size icons in the grid have been updated. * Split Toning color circles now scale up when the panel is wider. * ExifTool now runs on a background thread for better responsiveness. * Right-click (Mac) or tap and hold (iPhone/iPad) on the Info or ExifTool panel to change the font size. * You can now drag multiple items from the grid to the Photo Library sidebar. * Drag and drop in the Photo Library on Mac will display multiple small thumbnails to make it easier to use. * Watermark and Border setup options have moved into their respective export popups. * iPhone/iPad: the file name and date are now shown at the top of the screen. * iPhone: the Edit button is now an icon to give more room for the file name. * Curves pop-out on iPhone has been improved — the curve and image are larger and the layout is cleaner. * In vertical orientation on iPhone, the Curves panel gives more space to the curve itself, and the In/Out controls can be hidden. * Keyword filtering is now significantly faster. * You can now zoom past 100% on tightly cropped images. * Reduce memory use. BUG FIXES * Fixed: masks on RAW images were incorrectly positioned after applying perspective correction. * Fixed: adding an image to a file system folder placed it in the wrong position in the grid when sorted by File Creation Date. * Fixed: pressing two arrow keys at the same time would cause repeated keypresses and could not be cancelled. * Fixed: a color profile was incorrectly shown for RAW images, which do not have one. * Fixed: the histogram would sometimes not update while zoomed in. * Fixed: filtering in grid view did not always indicate the item number correctly. * Fixed: purchase status was not correctly reported when both a lifetime purchase and subscription were active. * Fixed: changes to the Photo Library did not always update the sidebar. * Fixed: sometimes when arrowing in Edit, a previous image would appear briefly. * Fixed: sometimes ISO was not written out during export. * Other fixes and improvements.

Printing

The one drawback to this app is there is no print function. Tried sending to Epson Print Layout, just got error. Most photo apps have a print function or the ability to send to a print app.

Insanely Great!

This is the app I've been waiting for ever since Aperture was discontinued. The RAW tools are insanely great (I compared them with Mac apps: Capture One, Luminar Neo (Luminar's RAW editing sucks), Photos, RAW Power and Darkroom). The highlight recovery is amazing: I had a blown out photo caused by using too much power with a manual flash; it rescued it in a way that the other apps couldn't quite match. The highlight roll off is excellent; can't tell that it was an (apparently) irretrievably overexposed photo. I LOVE that it syncs the edits across my devices. Finally, I can edit on iPad and then continue editing on Mac. Photos app syncs of course, but its RAW editing tools are not up to the standard of Nitro. I just bought this, but am really excited by its capabilities. Oh, and the Ul is lovely; clean, straightforward and highly functional. So glad that it offers a one-time purchase option; I generally don't use subscription apps.

An up and coming star

A younger relative to RAW Power, Nitro has the benefit of the same dedicated developer as well as attractive pricing and digital asset management features to boot. The developer (Nik Bhatt) has a passion for his work which shows in the update/addition cadence as well as his timely response to my questions/suggestions. Nitro has a way to go but it’s on the right track.

An excellent photo editor

I’ve used Nitro for several months now as my main editor. Nitro has all the basic functions you need for effective editing, with some unique tools like Recover, which reaches deep into the Mac OS RAW engine to recover seemingly lost highlights.
Nitro has very few weakness in terms of basic functions. The Shadows slider pulls up the lower midtowns a little too much for my taste, but you can circumvent this using the tone curve. I understand from the developer, who is very responsive to feedback, that this is being addressed.
The user interface is a joy to use, whether you are using Mac OS or iOS via an iPhone or iPad. The iOS version is bundled at no extra cost, which is great.
The development roadmap for Nitro has some excellent planned features.
It is already highly useable, and the initial RAW file rendering is better than Photomator in my opinion.
Highly recommended for enthusiast photographers who wish, for example, to expand their editing options beyond apps such as the Apple Photos editor.
