About

Nodeno is a weather app built around one complaint. Most forecasts take their daily headline from the provider's daily block, and that block is built to be cautious rather than representative. This means a sunny day with one five-percent shower at seven in the morning ends up getting filed under rain. The high is the warmest reading in a full midnight-to-midnight span, so a day you spent in the sixties gets called a seventy-five degree day because a warm front arrived at eleven at night while you were asleep. Nodeno answers both the same way: forecasts built around hours that count, and go with what most of them say. Daylight decides the day. THE RULE The day's condition is whatever most of its hours between sunrise and sunset are. The chance of rain and the expected rainfall come from those same daylight hours, so a shower before dawn can't give a clear day a high chance of rain. The high is the warmest hour between 9am and 7pm. The low is the coolest hour between 6am and 10pm. Nothing between 10pm and 6am ends up in your forecasts. All four windows are adjustable, and the whole rule has an off switch that puts the app back on the provider's own figures. We believe our rule is a better way to plan, but it's up to you! Feel free to turn it off and you still have a beautiful simple weather app. THE REST OF IT Hour by hour, ten days ahead, and the details you check before heading out: UV, wind and gusts, humidity and dew point, visibility, pressure and which way it is moving, and expected rainfall. Air quality too, on the US or European scale to match your units: where it is now, how high it climbs before the day is out, and what's driving it. Sunrise, sunset, the daylight you have left, and the moon. Your saved cities, anywhere in the world, with each one's own local time. Your current location at the top of the list if you want it and the app works completely without it if you do not. Small and medium home-screen widgets, plus lock-screen glances. Point one at a saved city or leave it following whichever city the app is showing. There's also a night mode that can be turned on or off that follows your phone settings. ON IPHONE DUO Closed, the next ten days sit in the side column, each a tap away. Open it, and the whole screen becomes one picture of the day: the sun's path across the sky with every daylight hour on it, the ground rising and falling with the temperature, and noon right on the fold. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account. No sign-in. No advertising, no tracking, no third-party code. Nodeno sends Open-Meteo a coordinate to ask what the weather and the air are like there, or the name of a city you search for, and keeps nothing. There is no server of mine for it to talk to. Weather data by Open-Meteo. Air quality from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, through Open-Meteo.
