Pls add more pen styles

I love Noteful a lot, and it has been my number 1 note taking app for a long time, but one thing I think should be added is more pen styles. I’m not sure if this is always the case, or js on my end but although there are 3 different styles of pens, they all look very similar to me and I would definitely prefer a few more options! But otherwise, great app.

Very intuitive, easy to use

Pretty high quality app for note taking. Using it for lectures in med school and it’s been amazing. Also the app doesn’t lag or anything, it just works which is what I need.

Love the Layers Option

I love that I am able to add layers and change the opacity of pngs! I imported a lined paper that layers on top of my actual worksheet (which doesn’t have lines). I love that I am able to write on the worksheet layer but still able to see the lines that I added to the second layer and then hide it when I get ready to export my document.

Fantastic app

Bought my first iPad this year, and one of the main reasons I decided to get one was because of how much note-taking I do. I was using up so much paper, and the amount of notebooks I had meant I couldn’t keep myself organised, which defeated the point, and became unbearable as a disabled person. I tried GoodNotes at first, but got frustrated when I very quickly used up the limited number of free notebooks. I didn’t want to get yet another subscription, or pay quite a bit outright for an app that, according to long-term users, was only getting worse (especially one that includes unnecessary AI slop). Reddit pointed me in Noteful’s direction, and I’m so glad it did. You get 10 free notebooks, which is far more than most other apps. The app feels intuitive, it enables me to have multiple methods of organisation (both tags and folders) and uses up far less battery than its contenders. To top it all off, only Ā£5.99 for a lifetime pro version is such an incredible deal that it feels like daylight robbery. A price I was more than happy to pay to support an independent developer who listens to their users about what features they want and implements them. There’s very few issues that I have with the app, and they’re so minor that I’m able to adapt and work around them, and they don’t really bother me. All in all, a fantastic app, everyone who has seen me using it wants to know what it is, and it’s enabled me to reorganise my life so that I can know where everything is. I cannot express how grateful I am for this app for genuinely making life a little easier. Thank you for your continued commitment to making this app better every day!

The Perfect Minimalist Note App

I converted from GoodNotes when that app experienced a rapid expansion and switched to the subscription model. Noteful has everything I need and allows for much easier image resizing since it expands from an anchor point instead of expanding in all directions from the middle. Thank you for keeping it simple.

It’s okay

It isn’t great, limited pen and template options, honestly there is nothing special about it

Very good

Has quirks that needs to be ironed out

I’ve enjoyed the app and its features, but taking notes is frustrating because random lines keep appearing that I didn’t intend to write. This forces me to constantly erase and rewrite sections, which makes it hard to maintain focus on my notes. I’ve enabled palm rejection, but it doesn’t seem to help, and I’m seeing unnecessary lines pop up every few seconds. If the handwriting detection and palm rejection were more accurate, this would be a much better tool for serious note‑taking.

Please improve palm rejection and input accuracy for stylus users so we can take clean notes without constant interruptions.

One time Purchase

Love that it has a one time purchase to upgrade unlike many other note apps. Features aren't extensive but it has more than enough.
The free version is very usable too.

Great app, room to improve

I’ve been using this app for about two and a half years, and it’s grown from good to great. At this point, making it even better really comes down to listening to users. Not every request will make sense, but changes with real practical value would be great to see.

One thing I’d love is better PDF exports—annotations shouldn’t be flattened, and the file outline should stay intact.

03/07/2026:
Thank you very much for resolving previously raised concerns and recommendations. I think it is really necessary to have the option to see the opened notes or pdf as list. When there are 10 or 15 files are opened it is annoying to scroll back and forth and find the file. Another thing is that latest opened file is last in the list, now when reading a book or taking note which may be the first book in the list , if new note is opened that maybe related to the present study goes to last( though it is possible to move) is annoying. Is it possible that when opening a new note the app will prompt something like ā€œopen after last read noteā€?( like it is available for merging notes). Otherwise option for see the opened file as list and moving the file up and down will make life easier. Thank you.

If your notes also include working with pdfs this app is not a good solution.

Paid for app thinking it would unlock better features and more extensive pdf editing. The pdf edit features are VERY limited and it’s not really a good app for working with a pdf. As for taking notes maybe ok. Not really worth paying for.

Excellent option to Apple pages

Nice binding and solution in replacement to Apple pages

Great App - Nit a subacription model

Not a subscription model. Pay once.
Minimalist user interface with powerful tool.
Tool like Lasso, Outline for pdf, layer like Photoshop

Updated a few times a year. Last update is from June 2026.

No desktop version for fast editing.

I’ve tried a lot of note-taking apps over the years, and Noteful has easily become my favourite. The interface is clean, intuitive, and distraction-free, making it incredibly easy to focus on what I’m working on. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from handwriting and organisation to PDF annotation and overall performance.

One of the things I appreciate most is that it doesn’t try to overwhelm you with unnecessary features. It does the essentials exceptionally well, and it does them reliably. The app is smooth, responsive, and has become part of my daily workflow for both work and personal projects.

It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into developing Noteful, and it genuinely shows. If you’re looking for a polished, reliable, and enjoyable note-taking app, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Well worth five stars!
