Better than Goodnotes in every way!
This app, though has literally been my lifesaver! I use it almost every day in many different ways, like for school, day planning, and for some art stuff! I have even used it to sign my legal documents because of its wonderful layering ability. It is the only one that I have tried that lets you do that feature. It helps you to be able to make quizzes. I put all my journals,workbooks, organize research projects, annotate books,articles and so much more. I mean honestly this app is 10 times better than Goodnotes! I used to have both Noteful and Goodnotes and found the latter super frustrating. I am an app addict so i have tried lots of different ones over the years and hands down this would be the one I chose if I can only use one. One thing I also like if you find that you've been working on something and you wanna merge it together with something else you can also do that. Lastly, when I bought this app, it was a ridiculously cheap price and only a one time payment rather than something I had to pay for every year. The only thing I would like to see change or upgrade is maybe some additional pen featurs and maybe an AI feature that will write out spoken words so I can notate properly later. Thank you Noteful for being the one who has been with me throughout my helping survive college!

No membership, highly functional
I love this app and use it for college, language studies, creative writing, and worship. It's minimalist but just what I need. If I could ask for one thing, though, it would be for a pencil style pen to write in and being able to adjust the color intensity of highlighters.

amazing app!! standout in its simplicity and ease of use
i downloaded tens of notetaking apps after getting my ipad, looking for something that mimicked samsung notes. all the other apps required a monthly subscription to begin (or to make the app functional), and didn't allow easy PDF import. noteful is the best app and the one i kept coming back to again and again -- it's completely free (though i ended up paying the lifetime $7 access to more colorful notebook covers) and has everything i need for organized notetaking in my college classes without confusing or downright stupid functions. pdf import is smooth and extremely functional, the notebooks function works beautifully for organization, and there are no ads, no AI (so far, which i am very happy about), smooth notetaking and a quick undo/redo and scribble-to-erase feature, and tons of paper templates (calendar, planner, lined paper, grid paper, etc). this is by far the best notetaking app (and again, i downloaded like 30 while looking) and i will be using it for as long as i have my ipad!

Pressure issue
When writing with Apple Pencil Pro, it seems to need a lot of pressure to be able to write in the first place. Have turned off auto shape and scribble erase, and it is still not working properly, have switched out the tips of my pencil and nothing.

Love that it was a one time life purchase. Good features. It’d be even better if I could research text that’s inside documents from the whole library research bar instead of only inside the document.
3 Years In, I Recommend this App to Everyone
In the three years I’ve been using this app, I have never once been frustrated with its performance. I have never been frustrated by its UI. I have never been frustrated by the note-taking experience. When anyone asks me what note-taking app I use for my coursework, I lavish praises on Noteful. For the toolset, for the easy pdf uploads, for the multiple export options, and most importantly for the one-time-fee premium service. Every other app worth taking notes on asks for a subscription rate, but I am always quick to advertise that Noteful is one and done.

Clean interface, all the basic features (and then some), and low latency. One-time license purchase? Serious businesspeople too. Sold.
Best Notes App
For being free, its great how many features you already have. But with an additional one time purchase you get more quality of life features. I think this is a great app no matter how you spin it!
WORTH THE PAYMENT!! But a few wishes
The app is exceptional for only a one time payment. I would give it 5, but I am worried that this feedback would go unnoticed. I just wish for a couple things: 1) More colors for folders and notebooks, maybe like the RGB scale we are able to do for our pen choice. 2) I wish it was much easier to put outlines under each other. Currently you have to drag outlines into one another to make chapters, I wish there was a select button, it would be very useful and appreciated. 3) pen styles per notebook, as some classes have different sized lecture slides and it would be helpful to not have to switch around. 4) I wish you could auto gather any notes that have highlights on them. Like they could just find what has highlights and auto collect them. Perhaps in the page selection area. It has to know what a highlight is due to the “Erase Highlights” feature.

Half a star taken off for no handwriting search, half star for notebook/within document search limitations.
I was using goodnotes for a while but it started making my iPad run hot and draining its battery to the point I couldn’t get through a full day of classes. Decided to give Noteful a try and I’m so glad I did! I really love the tag feature for when I want to mark a lecture slide as important. This app also has the cleanest and most approachable UI of the many note taking apps I’ve tried. The toolbar with Apple Pro squeeze gesture is also undefeated in my eyes. Element Note is a close runner up.
I think the 2 things I find lacking are that the search feature only looks at notebook titles and tags. It doesn’t search notebook contents themselves for a keyword. There also isn’t the option to search a document for a word.
Handwriting recognition is the second feature I’m beginning to miss from GoodNotes. Hopefully this is somewhere on the horizon!
It would be a bonus to have an infinite canvas as well; currently I’m zooming in to about 2000% and using the 0.10mm pen to get by.

Best. App. Ever.
Absolutely love the freedom this app gives me to express my creativity. Creating stickers is very easy and simple. I love all the options available for the free version. The ONLY thing I would like added is the ability to align text with boxes and slight multiple items with each other.

Great note taking app! Near everything is seamless, there’s only two things I wish for.
One is the ability to choose which notebook a file is imported into when sharing it to the app. It’s navigable by opening the notebook you want to share to before hitting share, but it would be much smoother to select it after hitting share and noteful.
The other thing is the ability to have pressure sensitivity on the highlight tool. I’d love to have it as an option, since it’s an option for the other writing tools.

This seems to be a very good app. I just started using it and I really like it. Time will tell of course but so far thumbs up.
