About

Your phone shows two bars, but nothing loads. The network's coverage map says you're fine. NotSpot gives you the proof. NotSpot quietly checks whether mobile data actually works where you are, and builds a map and log you can share. It measures real data availability, response time and download speed over your mobile connection, even when you're on Wi-Fi, so results at home reflect your network, not your broadband. WHAT IT MEASURES • Data availability: four tiny HTTPS tests over mobile data only, each with a 5 second timeout • Response time: connection, TLS and first-byte timings for every test • Speed: a small download on some tests, with a hard monthly data cap • Radio technology in use, such as 4G LTE or 5G • The network each test used and whether a VPN was on, so results stand up • Which SIM each test used: on a dual SIM iPhone, each SIM's results are kept apart under its own label Every sample is graded Good, Degraded or Dead. Before recording Dead, NotSpot gives a second, independent server a last chance of up to a minute, so very slow data is told apart from no data, and an outage at our end is never counted against your network. EVIDENCE YOU CAN SHARE • A map of every sample, coloured by result, filterable by date and time of day • Tap any area to see its sample count, % dead, median response and median speed • Optional coverage shading estimated from your samples, so patterns stand out • History charts for any period you choose • A one-page PDF evidence report with your name, a map, headline figures and the worst places • A plain-English summary for your email or report, written with Apple Intelligence from your statistics (never your locations) • Raw data export as CSV and GeoJSON • Set a Home location so results there are headlined in reports GENTLE ON BATTERY AND DATA NotSpot doesn't keep GPS running. iOS wakes it as you travel, and it takes at most one sample every 30 minutes on the move (every 10 minutes on longer journeys, and never while flying), with a single quick location fix each time. While you stay put, it checks in every couple of hours, and a Shortcuts automation can add samples at exact times. A few kilobytes per sample, with a monthly cap you control. FREE TO LOG, ONE-OFF UNLOCK Logging is free, with no limits, and every sample is kept. The free version shows your last 7 days. A one-off Evidence Unlock shows your full history and adds written summaries, the PDF report and CSV/GeoJSON exports. No subscription. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything stays on your iPhone. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics. Your location is never sent anywhere, and reports only leave your phone when you share them. Good for anyone who needs proof: employees on a work SIM that keeps dropping out, anyone thinking of switching network or claiming a fault, and rural and remote workers who want to know which spots actually work. Note: iPhone doesn't let apps read signal strength, so NotSpot measures whether data works rather than showing bars. Automatic background logging needs location access set to Always. Requires an iPhone with mobile data. On a dual SIM iPhone, NotSpot tests the SIM set for mobile data.

What's New in NotSpot

1.3

Dual SIM support. NotSpot now keeps each SIM's results apart, so a work line and a personal line each get their own evidence. • Every test records which SIM your iPhone was using for mobile data • Give each SIM its own label in Settings, shown in reports • Filter Home, the Map and Share Evidence by SIM, so a report covers one network • Reports, summaries and CSV/GeoJSON exports name the SIM they cover • Tests from earlier versions are kept, and assigned to your mobile data SIM NotSpot tests the SIM set for mobile data. To test the other, switch mobile data to it in iPhone Settings.
