Better after update
I’ve been using Novelist for 1-2 months now to write my first book series I intend to publish.
👉 TL/DR: I would recommend it to other authors & while there’s a few staples missing, like spellcheck, there’s a lot of really good features, too.
I think it’s a very comprehensive app for writers & it has so many features (really interested to see what they come out with in tools). You can create a “bulletin board” of sorts to organize your characters, places, themes, etc. I also like the schedule and progress tracking (which started working for me on 9/24). You see your growth & set goals for your writing.
I also enjoy being able to edit the chapter list and move “scenes” (chapters) around if necessary by long-tapping one to get to the editable list.
I’m still frustrated by the highlighting to copy - which even with my small fingers is difficult to get right if I’m just trying to highlight a specific sentence or a few words. Pasting has become much easier since the update, though.
I’m also confused with the need for the organize section, when you have the “write” section where you write all of your chapters & everything, but then need to physically move all your finished chapters to the organize section, which is where you can download in the correct format, enter an IBM number, etc. for publishing.
It does *not* currently have spellcheck or grammar correcting capabilities, & I would love to see both in the future. Anything to help with editing would be appreciated as I’m sure many of us using Novelist are are new authors, self-publishing, or trying to self-edit while avoiding AI use.
Overall I would recommend this for fellow writers, you can’t beat the price or wealth of features that the Novelist app offers.

Do It Now
I love this app! I’m new to Novelist. As I do more with it, truly learn to navigate within it, I may find limitations. Currently, though, I’m in love.
It’s wonderful to see my progress right at my fingertips. I can do everything in the app and see my work in a way I’ve never seen it before. It encourages me to write more. That’s a “win” in my world!
Oh, one thing I would change is in selecting text. The only option is Select All. I can sometimes get potions highlighted, other times I can’t. Maybe there’s a trick I’m unaware of. It’s annoying but in no way a dealbreaker.

pretty good
i generally like this app, but if you want to copy and paste it (to send to a friend or something) you cant, because of the font! it makes all the special characters ( ‘ “ , . / $ ! ?) into a mix of funky symbols! (“ might turn into $*^#!^)
I love it but one problem
I LOVE this app, BUT I wish that I was able to put pictures for my story’s I totally recommend but if you are a picture person (like me) I recommend something else I use this app for my chapter books like Potato’s story (about a cat that gets a owner and loves her, but she lives with a dog named Penny they both work together to find a new home.) and stranger thing (the BEST show on earth) if you haven’t watched it then WATCH IT it’s really GREAT anyway if the developers responds reads this PLEASE have a picture button so I can put pictures. And if you read this thank you for your time 😊. Toothless99nights99sunflower singing out but really thank you for your time 😊.

WHY IS THIS SO UNDERRATED
I LOVE this app! It’s so helpful for writing, and organizing books and stories! More people should use this app. Granted, writing isn’t exactly an incredibly pursued career/hobby, but for those who wanna get into it should use this app! It pales in comparison to Apple Notes. Selecting fonts is much easier, organizing lore for every part of your story is easy, and this app is near perfect! Too bad I’m a poet and know you can’t achieve perfect. If I weren’t so smart, I would say this app is perfect. Instead, I’ll use some metaphors. If everything I ate was as good as this app, I would triple my weight in four hours. Thanks to everyone who worked on this project, and everyone who took time out of their day to build this convenience for me!
P.S: I wouldn’t mind being able to give text color, though. Thank you!
