Needs back button
The app idea is good and I enjoy web novels but this app is not built very well. There’s no home or back button so if there’s a popup that leads you somewhere else or if you tap on a novel just to check it out, good luck getting back to the page you were on.
It’s gets the job done
I like the novels and the site but I really wished it had a text to speech function as I mostly listen to novels while I busy myself with other things.
Don’t make the website and the app exactly alike.
If I wanted the website in app form I would have just put the website on my phone screen. Make the buttons bigger and make going through pages of the app easier.

As you maybe have read from other reviews the “app” is just the website. As such it’s super choppy and sucks to use.
Some annoyances to mention due to this
1. Slow load times, I use an IPhone 14 and yet theres a choppy website-like loading every time I go to a site
2. Literally no “go back to previous page button”, you have to slide to the right to go back to the novel list like you’re on a website…
I feel like if you have a cute novel app, it should be easy and fast to search for novels. Which this app fails to do spectacularly.
Add that to the random AI motion picture comics and literally no UI and optimization after a year, it’s a rather disgusting insult.

Super buggy
Sometimes when watching ads, it takes you to the homepage of the novel. In addition it sometimes bugs out and becomes unresponsive. When trying to sign in, sometimes it glitches out and makes you sign in over and over and over like in a loop. This app feels like just an incredibly poorly done port of the website.

Very bad AI translations. Taking away good translations for bad AI translations (sometimes even wrong translations where nothing makes sense) and charging money for it.
Novelpia Google Login Button Not Working(Glitch?)
Tis is a great app with excellent novels, but I’ve encountered a frustrating login issue over the last 3 days. My account is linked to Google, yet the Google login button doesn’t respond or open the account selection—it just fails to open anything. This prevents access despite the app otherwise working well. Please fix this bug soon😅

No back button!!!!
Okay, I downloaded this knowing it was basically just the webpage, but web pages are viewed in web browsers that have back buttons. The app has no web browser, so the only way to go back is to click on the main tabs (like premium) and scroll back to where you were before.
Novelpia, if you don’t want customers then don’t even bother listing an app. This is literally WORSE than your webpage, and your webpage was already a terrible user experience!

It unbelievably fails to meet my low expectations of a website from large company in Korea
Interacting with all the buttons is just so annoying. I keep accidentally pressing the create and upload novels instead of the library which is frustrating. Not to mention the “app” is clearly a website port. It feels so clunky to use, it refresh if you go to the Home Screen and it’s very jarring.
Not to mention AI has translated all their Korean novels. Unlike how many feel, I’m decently okay with it if done well.
If done well, it can greatly increase the amount of novels seen by English speaking readers and give a chance to reach a new audience. This app wouldn’t be possible without AI translating tens of thousands of pages in minutes.
I point this out because it was not done well enough. Problems like empty or cut short chapters occur and YOU(yes, you the user) have to manually report to their support on discord. They have gotten better with it recently, but grammar and continuity issues still occur which YOU had to report.
Not to mention their Ads man, the Ads are so obviously trying to get you to click on them by accident. Not to mention divide the novel chapters into 3 sections. The first portion of chapters for free, the middle portion lock their chapters by Ads and lock the rest with ticket currency which you can only get 2 a day(aka 2 chapters a day).
I was going to buy the $10 subscription where you get no Ads and unlimited reading, but realized the website version shows a cheaper price, $6 for the first months, and $7 normal. So now I don’t even know which subscription to buy.
When I see a mid-sized/big company releasing their novel site, I expect more from them. This app greatly disappointed me. The website is better to use, not because it functions better than the app, but by the fact it’s just made to be used on a browser and on a laptop.
I wasn’t planning to make a review, but they recently released their “animated” shorts of 5 novels that are fairly popular. I put animated in quotes because it’s a shame to title. If one punch man’s season 3 and blue lock’s season 2 became infamous for its still-like animation familiar to a slideshow, then these shorts should be called paintings made by robots. Oh right… I never mentioned the “animation” is just AI generated photos. Yes AI, AI, AI.
It’s a slap to the face to the original authors that oversea fans’ first impressions of their amazing works are AI generated. It’s more insulting because IM A FAN OF SOME OF THEM.
I remember reading “The Court Physician Cured the Villainess and Ran Away” in highschool, at my most lowest point when someone important to me died, when life felt so gray and empty, when the only value I felt I had was being still like a pebble. When the novel was being updated, I bought a subscription from kr novelpia to read their latest stuff in machine translation. I felt so comforted by that novel, only for it all to be betrayed and trampled for their ridiculous attempt at advertisement for these novels.
Not to mention AI has translated all their Korean novels. Unlike how many feel, I’m decently okay with it if done well.

it is not possible to view the chapters in which you need to view ads
It doesn’t work
I got this app to read on my phone the chapters that require ads, because they never work on the regular website. I had the app for an hour when all of the sudden no matter what I did in the app, after a couple seconds it would send me back to the home page. I tried everything, nothing works, this app is unusable. Please fix it.

Adding a text to speech function would make the app more convenient

most infuriating app ive ever used
It just randomly kicks me out while reading to the main screen. Doesn't cache anything so when the wifi cuts on the subway it kicks you out

The app is janky but it gets the job done at least… all in all could be worse but it could also be easily improved with just a bit of effort.
Literally just the website
There’s no difference between using the app and visiting the website on your phone. Literally. The ‘app’ is just a browser that opens the website. No difference at all, you even still get ads for the app. It’s hilariously cheap compared to the official Korean app.
Good Stories, but the App is still Primitive
I used to read translations of Novelpia novels, but now I'm glad I can read straight from the source.
While I'm glad to have to the global release, the app is still primitive. There is yet to be a point in using the app when you could just use the website. It feels like just opening the site on safari and doing "add to home screen".
The reason in specific why there is not quite yet a point in using the app over just the website, is that-- There is no offline reading yet.
That's the core issue, as to why there's not as much reasoning to download the app over the website, though I do hope that functionality were to come.

Another thing. I have found 2 bugs.
1.) This happens on other sites too-- but...
If you press next chapter, there is very common chance that instead of starting at the start of the next chapter-- you start at the last part of the next chapter. So I would get confused, I would occasionally have to double check if I skipped a chapter on accident.
2.) As I'm reading a story, randomly-- the story could just exit to the main hub, mid-session. That only happened once so far, so I'm not sure if it's a bug, but the lack of a "reading history" makes it troublesome. If a reader did not press "favourite" on the book, and they don't remember the title, they're screwed-- and would have to hunt what they just read.
