Now and Next: Visual Schedule

Clearer transitions, and a second chance when something goes wrong Prompts are now Choice Cards The same easy way to offer two or three activities and let someone choose one—just with a clearer name. Hear what’s happening next Turn on Play voice on activity tap in Settings and children can tap an activity to hear it spoken aloud. Choose a voice under Select voice: Apple’s Enhanced and Premium voices are free where supported, though some need a one-time download in iOS Accessibility settings. Make transitions clearer Turn on Show arrow between activities and an arrow pointing from Now towards Next replaces the line on activity cards, including in the Time Line. Shake to Undo Deleted something by mistake? Shake your iPhone or iPad and tap Undo to bring back the card, choice card, Time Line card or activity you just removed, right where it was. Shake again to undo the deletion before that. Ask before deleting Now and Next now checks before deleting a card, choice card, Time Line card or activity, so a slip of the finger won’t lose your work. It’s on for everyone; to delete straight away, turn off Confirm before deleting in Settings. A fresh look for activities The built-in activities have a new Gentle Storybook picture style. Switch between the original and new styles in Settings; if you already use the app, your current style stays until you choose to change it. There are also six new Home activities, in both styles: Wash Hands, Shoes On, Shower, Homework, Coat On and Sensory Break. More room on iPhone • Ready for iPhone Duo: activities, cards and color choices adapt to the cover screen and the larger unfolded screen. • A new setting, Always show cards in landscape, keeps activity, Time Line and choice cards in landscape even when your iPhone is held upright. • Choosing a card color with your iPhone on its side shows the preview beside the whole palette, with no scrolling. Also in this update • Spoken activities start promptly and clearly, and the latest tap is always the one you hear. • On iPhone, an open choice card now matches the way you are holding the phone. • Corrections to the help pages, and small fixes throughout.
