About
NS Needle is a single-page, dark-themed, fully offline compass instrument.
What makes it different: it tells you when it can't measure.
■ Data Honesty Protocol
White = live reading. Gray = last known fix, with a timestamp you can tap to inspect. If it can't be measured, it's not shown. The only compass that doesn't fake it in an elevator.
■ Instrument-Grade Feel
60 Hz heading with exponential smoothing — no chasing animations. Three tiers of haptic feedback: heavy on cardinal north, medium on E/S/W, light on every 30° tick. You know you passed north without looking.
■ True North, Offline
Long-press the heading to toggle true/magnetic north. No network required.
■ Maintained Readings
Coordinates, altitude (with accuracy tolerance), barometric pressure, relative height, and reverse-geocoded address. Lost signal? Coordinates go gray — they don't vanish. Pressure stays live.
■ Unlimited Waypoints + Back-Bearing
Tap + to record your position with heading, pressure, altitude, address, and notes. No limit. Select a waypoint and the dial shows a bearing arrow with distance cues. The closer you get, the heavier and faster the haptic pulses.
■ Sun & Moon
When coordinates are available, see current rise/set times and bearings. A photographer's golden hour companion.
■ Five Promises
Works without internet. Collects nothing. No subscription. Never fakes data. Won't grow into something else.
