User reviews

Used to be a good app

It stopped working a while ago with iOS 14. I guess there are no updates anymore. We used to recommend this to our interns, but will stop recommending until updated.

Wish they would add more!

It would be great if the app was updated. I’m a dietetic Intern and I would love to see pictures and guidelines to help do physical assessments for malnutrition etc.

Useful calculators and nutrient references

There aren't a lot of useful RD apps out there, so I was glad to see that the Academy put this one out. It works well and has some useful things, such as:
-Energy requirement calculators (Mifflin, Harris Benedict, peds calculations, etc)
-Anthropometric tools (BMI, body surface area, height from knee, wt change assessment, etc)
-Conversion calculators (metric to U.S., cooking conversions)
-Nutrient DRIs for micro and macronutrients
-Physical assessment tools (signs of deficiencies, anatomy images)
-Label reading (health claims, nutrient claims, food allergy labeling info, etc)
-Fluid requirements - estimation methods, calculator, water requirements by age
-Physical activity- hydration guideines for athletes, physical activity guidelines by age group
-Symptom management - very limited, just constipation, diarrhea, low appetite and n/v management. I hope they'll add more to this section or create an MNT section w/ recs for MNT current guidelines.
Overall, a good app, though somewhat basic so probably best for a newer dietitian but I find the calculations useful even after several years practicing.

Not something I would use

This application has some built in calculators and references. It is not something I find useful in my practice in the adult clinical world.
