Terrible software
A trained monkey can write a better program.
Horrible software makes great hardware unusable
NX controls could be the best commercial lighting control system available, but this app is a nightmare. It’s bloated, slow, ponderous, poorly thought out out, and shouldn’t have even made the cut at the AppStore. Programming that should take seconds by an experienced lighting controls designer instead takes hours (I’ve been at this for over 30 years so I actually know what I’m doing), and sitting on a jobsite watching the app fail to connect time and again is infuriating. Couple this with the inability to name areas, zones, and groups, it’s clear the author has never set foot on a jobsite, or for that matter, left the building or spoken to designers, specifiers, or commissioning agents. To say this app is grade-school caliber is an insult to children. It’s klunky, slow, doesn’t reflect real-world needs, and exists in an ecosystem that never escaped a grey, bland cubicle in a giant office. It should be not only re-written and replaced, but lit on fire, tossed in the trash, and removed from the lighting controls industry. Its sole redeeming feature is to set an example of What Not to Do when creating an app, and is a fantastic sales point for all of NX and Current’s competitors. This app alone could kill a good product and put many good hardware designers out of a job.
