About
NY Exam Student is where a child sits the practice test their parent or tutor has set for them.
TRY IT WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT
Tap Demo on the first screen and take a ten-question sample straight away. No sign-up, no card, no email address.
BUILT THE WAY THE REAL TESTS WORK
Questions come one at a time. Once an answer is submitted, you move on — the same rule as the exam room, so practice feels like the real thing rather than a worksheet. Reading passages stay on screen with their questions. Timed exams run their own clock section by section; the New York State tests have no time limit, because the real ones do not either.
THE TESTS
• SHSAT — the digital, computer-adaptive format, where each question adjusts to how the last one went
• TACHS and HSPT — full-length Catholic high school entrance exams
• New York State tests, grades 3 through 8, in English Language Arts and Mathematics, sat one part a day as the real test is
SIGNING IN IS ONE PASSCODE
Children often have no email address, so there is nothing to remember but a short passcode from their parent or tutor. Nothing else is asked of them.
STOP AND COME BACK
Pause at any point, or save and finish another day. Answers and the time remaining are kept on the account, so a test started on a phone can be finished on an iPad.
RESULTS GO TO THE GROWN-UP
The child sees a finishing screen, not a score. The full report — every question, what was chosen, and why the right answer is right — goes to the parent or tutor who set the test. A number on its own is easy to misread; the report is written to be read together.
NOTHING IS SOLD IN THIS APP
Practice tests are bought and assigned by a parent or tutor elsewhere. There is no purchasing, no advertising and no tracking in this app.
