Tried Nymph for a few weeks because I was looking for an open-minded / non-monogamy dating app, and honestly, itās a mixed experience.
The app itself is actually pretty good. The interface is clean, profile setup is straightforward, and the filters give you a decent amount of control over what youāre looking for. I also like that it supports couples and different relationship styles without making the whole experience feel awkward or overly complicated. Verification is another nice touch.
The biggest problem is the user base.
When you first join, you get a few likes and some interesting profiles, so it gives you the impression that there are plenty of active people around. But after using it for a while, the pool starts feeling very small. Iāve frequently run into the āyouāve run out of peopleā situation, even with fairly open filters.
Another issue is that quite a few profiles donāt seem very active. Some people never respond, and some profiles give the impression that they havenāt been used in a long time. That makes it difficult to tell whether youāre actually running out of potential matches or simply running out of active users.
The free version is also quite restrictive with likes, which can make the experience feel like itās pushing you toward a subscription. I tried Nymph+ as well, but I didnāt see a dramatic improvement in the quality of matches. It mostly felt like having access to more of the same relatively small pool.
I wouldnāt call the app a scam. The developers seem responsive and the concept is genuinely useful. The main issue is that the community still feels too small, especially outside major cities.
If you live in a big metro and are specifically looking for open-minded / ENM people, Iād say itās worth trying. But download it for free first, see how many genuinely active people are in your area, and donāt subscribe immediately.
