Ad version isn’t too irksome - but I wish NYT would somehow prevent A.I. scam ads. I don’t fall for them personally, but it cheapens NYT. Love this game though. Prefer it to Words With Friends as it doesn’t have the overwhelming visual clutter.

If I try to message my friend via the app- it repeatedly freezes the app and I have to uninstall and lose games to use again

It’s a fun game. I’ve been playing it for months and haven’t gotten tired of it. I do wish that I was able to cancel a game without automatically losing because some people never play back.
Too slow
This needs a timed version. Waiting hours for an opponent to play is immensely frustrating.
