Don’t pay! Charges for free data
Just download Cartograph Maps instead and load the WMTS layer direct from LINZ. The maps are free for private use.
Freezes doesn’t work
Paid for offline maps that won’t download it just crashes the app, also full of glitches when you zoom in it reverts to normal map not Topo,
Faulty for months
Previously a great app, but for the last few months it has been useless.
- DOC hut & campsite info missing despite toggle on.
- Can’t search for huts in the search bar.
- Topo turns into standard map view when zoomed in.
None of the issues resolved with IOS updates or deleting and reinstalling the app. Very disappointing.

Mostly good. Hard to figure out how to download sections for offline. If you zoom in at all the topo disappears
Goes good when it goes
Been unable to download maps for about a year now (an error was encountered while accessing the LINZ data service). Tried reinstalling without luck.
Unable to get TOPOs
There is so much potential with this app. I had no issues downloading the first topo but when I went to download the second I came to the paywall.
I paid to access more maps but haven’t been able to download any. Saying an error accessing the LINZ service.

Doesn’t work
Paid for the app so I could download multiple sections but it won’t allow me to download anything due to errors and zooming in enough to get detail causes it to go blank. Please fix!
Amazing
One of the best map apps I’ve used. Too cheap for what it is. Very impressive. I know we aren’t outdoors people like the Kiwi’s, but I wish you make the app for Australia.

If you really want to use this then you need to make a purchase. It only allows the download of a single topo map without payment.
Freezes constantly
Used to be usable. Paid for extra maps but recently it freezes as soon as you open it.

Clunky rubbish
This app relative to others is clunky frustrating and unreliable.
Downloading maps is a nightmare
Even then they sometimes don’t cache so don’t provide the resolution you are looking for.
Finding the map you want to download is impossible as it’s not referenced on the global map.
The waypoint referencing is terrible
I swapped this for topo gps.. far better cheaper , more reliable and user friendly.

Lag
Was originally very good maps, now it lags out and freezes
Has a fault on iPhone 14 pro
Locks up all the time and the developer is hard to contact for assistance.

Stopped working?
This app used to be great no problems - now for 3 months I haven’t been able to download the map sheets for use offline reliably at all. It gets half way though a download and then either says ‘download failed check your internet connection’ or ‘download failed couldn’t reach LINZ data’.
This is really frustrating as this is my favourite Topo map but has become unusable, spending hours attempting to download maps but failing? Annoying when I pay for it too!
Any help on how to make it work again would be welcomed - tried zooming out and selecting the map square instead of selecting from the maps page list - still does the same thing. Tried deleting and reloading the app - same thing but now I’ve lost all my maps. My internet connection is not the problem as it’s happened in multiple locations.

Don’t waste your money
Same as most other reviews, try to zoom in when offline and it just goes dark or blurs out.

Won’t download
Won’t download to my IPhone 11 Pro. Could be a glitch but not sure, have tried about 6 times
Topo 50 maps won’t download
I’ve downloaded Topo 50 maps successfully in the past but I’m unable to download the one I need now - the app says an SSL error has occurred, despite me being on a good internet connection. So the app is unusable and I’ll have to buy a different product to get the topo maps I need.
