No sound

Seriously, and you want $20. Ha ha ha Ha. No way!

Do not buy!

There is a newer version of this synth available. As of 22 MAR 2026 the product description of this synth does not state that fact. I was denied a refund twice by Apple in spite of this. Additionally, the developer would not help with a promo code to get the later version, which THEY ARE able to do at no cost to themselves. Due to this I will not buy nor recommend any of this developers products on any platform in the future.

Amazing Synth … Missing A Few Things!!

I absolutely LOVE this virtual synth!! It sounds incredible, and programming on it is a joy … If it had a few updates like adding last/high priority for mono patches, or increased polyphony to 8 voices, I’d rate it 5 stars because I use it that much 🙏🏾

Shows up as italizer in Audiobus

Crashes in Audiobus. Can’t use in midi section

Inspiring!

A great synth! I can always rely on this me to get my creative juices flowing!

No upgrade bundle?

I bought this just a month before version 3 came out, there is no upgrade path provided, this often takes the form of an upgrade bundle with both versions included where the price is discounted if you already own one of the versions. Would appreciate that very much and leaving this as a warning this is the old version.

I actually bought their complete bundle with four titles originally. This was the only really interesting thing in it imo unless you’re into chiptune retro. I think this version does sound quite Oberheimish and the competitor is Korg Gadget Phoenix which also does the job. Would like to hear the new version please.

I can’t use it

In Cubasis on my iPad 12.9 pro, when added to a track, there is no way of browsing the preset banks without turning off the keyboard, maximising the synth and then opening the banks/patches at the bottom of the screen.

I have to repeat this for EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to change patch. It’s crazy!! Why isn’t the bank / patch browser listed per spec in the Cubasis list/browse menu on the left, and why is the patch/bank control centre fixed at the bottom of the screen behind the keyboard and doesn’t allow you to scroll to it - requiring you to maximise the synth instance EVERY time??

When I do manage to get to a patch, I guess it sounds ok - but I’m so frustrated that I’ve only loaded perhaps 2 patches.

PLEASE fix asap

Great Sound - Unplayable

Dev did a good job with a faithful rendering of the original sounds but I’ve never seen a less playable iPhone keyboard. I have thin fingers and am pretty dexterous with these things but this one is just impossible.

The sound is amazing

Sounds fantastic. It’s missing midi learn. The preset browser still needs work. It’s missing categories. Once those are added, 5 stars.

Mostly perfect

Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with the sound of the Oberheim Ob X series , so I had to get this as soon as I noticed it in the App Store. It is exactly as awesome as I hoped for…mostly. I know the GUI has been optimized for the iPhone now and is much improved from earlier versions. There is one issue though… when using it as an AU in GarageBand, I can not access the last two banks as if I try to scroll down , the bottom two banks are cut off, and one of those banks is the empty one for user presets. Now the work around for the other is to enter standalone mode, choose the preset and hit “copy” load up a “default” preset in one of the few accessible banks that have one, and then hit paste in the menu. The tricky part is, if you forget to load up a default preset first, you’ll accidentally overwrite the loaded preset. That is the legit only issue I have but it’s kind of a big one

One of the best sounding iOS synths

This app sounds amazing. To my ears this sounds as good as the Moog synth apps. I’ve owned an ob-6 and own many Oberheim desktop plugins. This app nails the oberheim sound.

Sounds fantastic but missing midi on iPad

Great sounding synth, it would be great to have a midi implementation on iPadOS as I’d like to map it to my prophet 5.

Was Pitiful

Thanks for this update. Now the app is usable on an iPhone, even though I can't read a single word on the unit - at least I can access presets and the menu.

Original Feedback:
Simply not usable on an iPhone. You need a magnifying glass to even see the controls, and you NEED those as the presets just auto-scroll from the first 20 to the last 20, missing the bulk of presets in the middle. How anyone can charge money for such a waste of time and not be banned from the app store is a mystery. This is a super pathetic excuse for an app.

Latest UI improvements make this synth a breeze to use

Thanks for finally addressing the patch browser window issue. Now its easy to find patches!

The real deal!

I owned the original OBXA back in 1978. This version is so realistic, I get to shut my eyes and remember great memories of Music School. This is the closest iOS, VST, Au emulation there is in my opinion. Not only 5 stars, but 10 stars of gratitude and awe on how you managed to create this so realistic version of a Monster Synth. A big thank you!

Oh my!

Recreated perfectly. The presets alone are worth ten bucks. Nicely done!

Excellent Synth😎

Great sounding! A lot of USEABLE presets! Incorporating into my live rig.

Disproportionately like this. Oberheim AUv3.

For no apparent reason, this synth has grabbed me. I used my last GarageBand track, wiped half the instruments out in the end, replacing each one with an instance of AUv3 of this. A bit like the Moogs, this looks perhaps ordinary, but with only the standard Apple EQ adding some ‘air’ to the output, and the standard Apple compressor bumping the signal a bit, this turned out really nice. It’s much better than it may first appear, sitting dusty on the Appstore shelf, is all I can say. It comes to life when judiciously FXd and played. Agree with others, it’s a must for iOS/iPadOS synthesizer players and enthusiasts, electronic musicians, or as Edgar Froese once said ‘Why don’t you just say musicians?!’.

Top iOS Synth

OB-XD is one of my favorite iOS synths and imho one of the best synths available. Im shocked it doesn’t have a higher overall rating. It sounds great, there’s a lot of presets available online, and it’s lightweight as an Au inside AUM. I use it all the time and I’m so happy it got ported over a few years back. Lovely pads, leads, basses, all with a warm, rich sound make this app one of my go to’s. I highly recommend it. The developer is very responsive, and continually provides updates to make sure Ob is going strong. 5 stars!

Great sounds but preset window is a mess.

I love the sound, but why cant i scroll through the preset window? I can either have the top of the list or the bottom. How do i get to the ones in between?

This is using iPad OS15.2
