Works well AND it’s free

I used this app to scan a few pages of documents and convert to text to further edit on my laptop.

(For best results, I recommend using lots of light on documents you’re scanning, and using invert and 3D deskew before converting.)

Although no app does the job of OCR perfectly, this one gets close enough for further editing, so saving lots of time transcribing docs manually via typing, PLUS it’s free (did I mention that it’s free?)

Was 3/4 stars

Non unusable after its update or ios 14. Normally one option for grabbing a photo is Screenshots. Gone. Another was Recents. Gone.
Worse: I can’t get text! Before, after extraction, I could select a section of text to copy. Now when I hold done my finger I get a Share option only.
But selecting that 1) requires sending it and 2) puts a copy of the IMAGE, not text in the doc. Useless.
The functionality is completely gone.

Don’t Know

I used “”StitchPics” which sticker screenshots i took, the screenshots were of a digital document sample so the image Is legible and pretty clear, this app cannot pick up on the text present which got my hopes down. Oh well!! Guess I am typing everything from scratch

Finally a good one

This is the first image to text app that is ACTUALLY free AND works. 👍

Fantastic! A MUST-have App

The OCR Scanner is very fast and accurate. And did I mentioned it works for multiple languages.

The OCR Scanner app gives you a simple and efficient way to capture that interesting poem, quote, or small article you come across without having to painstakingly write it down by hand.

You can Camera Scan existing pages or import from the Photo Library. The app will extract the text from a picture and convert it to an editable text file.

You can copy and paste the extracted text to an iMessage, Notes, email or word processing app and make edits/corrections or reformatting as necessary. It also Has a Tables option to scan tables.

Download it now! :-)

Finally!!

I’ve been looking for an app to do exactly what this app does perfectly, recognize images with text and convert them to pdf, also PDFs that are images and recognize the text. Thank you!

Love it but needs minor fixes

I really love the app, but when scanning recipes for some reason it omits tsp and TBS every single time. Have to manually add them back in. Also it changes numbers like 60 to 6o (has an o instead of a zero) again, I have to fix this manually. Would be nice if it could recognize numbers that have zeros. Otherwise it works great!

Can't select another language

I went to use this OCR in Russian, but it does not work, even when downloaded the Russian language. I press it but it does nothing. Please fix.

Very competent OCR for free.

A service to the ‘rest of us’.

Works great!

I use this to extract hashtags from instagram. Because you often can’t copy paste text from IG but I want to remember what the top tags are for a search. I just screenshot the page on my phone, run it through this scanner, and then copy paste to my notepad. I have been getting way more hits and followers on IG ever since using this to capture the top tags for a search.

95% accurate

Works pretty great except can’t convert straight into Microsoft Word. Using medium to transfer works but leaves weird format you have to correct

Great, simple, confusing

LEAD did something great with this app. It's super simple, not over bloated, and does what it says it does...

...mostly.

So far 2 out of 3 things scanned and OCR'ed to text perfectly. The third item is rotated by 180 degrees each time I try to OCR it leading to the wrong interpretation (for some reason it thinks the text is upside down. This is a Walmart receipt to be more specific)

I've tried manually rotating it but it seems to agree that upside down is the right side up to OCR...

Also, if we have the option to have multiple pages, is it possible to be able to add multiple images in one go instead of one at a time?

I don't know how hard that is to do, so I wouldn't knock them on that.

Thank you for the great app!

Ocr scanner

Very good app can you please add arabic language to the ocr.

Bug with iOS 13 upgrade

This product causes problems with .docx attachments. I discovered that email attachments with docx extension would not open. After 3 or 4 system reloads I narrowed it down to this app. Once I removed it the attachments open normally.

Unpretentious and Handy Utility

I’m still getting the hang of it. But I really like what it’s enabled me to do!

Persian language

Add edit option to remove or add text
Add persian or farsi language.
Need better icon design.
Thanks.

Crashes

This crashes as soon as it reaches the "finding zones" step on my iPad air. Crashed on my iPhone too after I scanned just a few pages. 😡

If Another OCR App is More Accurate, I Haven’t Found It

I want to leave a review for this app because I regularly compare the output of various OCR apps (paid and free) in IOS and OSX and this free app has been consistently the best. I depend on OCR apps and none are perfect, as some reviews highlight, but I have seen none better. Thank you.

Pretty good so far

It does what I need it to. It converts words on paper to digital format. By that I mean I can send the scans I take on the app to my iCloud, and then I can copy and paste the words onto another document on my computer. That is what I tried to do for a long time on the “Notes” app for iPhone, but it doesn’t work. “Notes” app says it can scan, but it really just takes a picture of the words. When I scan, I need to be able to copy and paste the actual WORDS of the paper, not just a picture of the paper. I like this app because it gives me the words in digital. It is not perfect, however, sometimes it s e p a r a t e s e a c h w o r d l i k e t h i s a n d i t i s a n n o y i n g t o h a v e t o f i x. It also does not get punctuation correct all the time but other than that it is pretty good. I bet it will improve in the future. I think it could improve in one way by being more intelligent. It could “find” words in text that it thinks is separated (see above) and connect the letters. It could also work on p-utting words together that have been sepa-rated by the column of the page, as demo-nstrated here. (My book has lots of these) I am very grateful that it is a free app, however, so I can not really complain much. Thank you for making this app.
