Not Connecting to Camera

App will not connect to the camera and unless you do this, the app will not function. I’ve gone through all steps to fix this but the app itself does not have a camera option in settings on my iPad.

Annoying characters!

I REALLY wanted to love this app! My son is working with an OG Certified tutor, and it’s expensive! This program uses many of the same approaches that the tutor uses, but the characters and their voices are beyond annoying! It’s also hard to understand what the characters are saying at times, because of the voices used for them. The app also has a difficult time understanding my son (and myself!) sometimes. He will very clearly say the word, but the app doesn’t register it as the correct sound. He will have to repeat himself over and over, and gets so frustrated that he doesn’t want to continue with the program. I will try to help by saying the word for him, but even I am not understood! I was really hopeful that we could use this app instead of a tutor, but it’s just not going to work. I thought my son would get used to the voices and the sayings used, but it really does get more annoying the more you use it. Really wishing I hadn’t spent $50 on it! Only giving 2 stars because the content is what a true OG tutor uses, but the characters need major work!

Response from developer

Thanks for your input. Since you wrote in, we have a new and improved speech recognition system with the best quality available. The results have been great. We are sorry that OgStar was not a good match for your child at the time. The cost is still less than 50 cents/lesson.

THE Best learning APP for literacy

Incredible value. I am a literacy specialist. This app could save you thousands on private tutoring cost - this app can provide you with what literacy therapists would charge your child thousands of dollars to learn. I am recommending this app to students on my waitlist.

Great app no way to add more kids

App has helped my dyslexic son improve his reading a lot. I’d like to add his younger brother to the app but that doesn’t seem possible! Kind of expensive for a single kid app.

Very happy!

We are very happy with this program. As close as we can get to having a tutor.

Response from developer

Sorry for your difficulties! There is an assessment at the start of the app for students aged 8 and older. It is recommended that most children under 8 start with Lesson 1. However, a parent can always put an older age in the student profile so that the placement test can be done. Either way, all lessons are UNLOCKED, though it may appear otherwise, so you can at any time jump your child ahead or back to any lesson. We're happy to answer questions!
