Olidou is designed to help you settle your child at bedtime by telling the classic tales in a calm, slow voice. The pictures and the settings are simple by design. The words appear on screen to gently accustom your child, little by little, to matching the sounds of the voice with the text. You can pause at any time to explain a word or an expression. Children love repetition, so don't hesitate to replay the same stories. The music is peaceful and imaginative. It's just what's needed to drift softly into dreams. We have softened the violence in some tales, because we feel that, sadly, others are all too eager to spread it. Little Red Riding Hood will not be eaten as she is in Charles Perrault's original. You won't see the woodcutter kill the wolf as in the Brothers Grimm version. He will chase it away instead. Not every Olidou story is a retelling. “The Fridge”, "The Staircase" and "The Paintbrush" are original stories by François Reeves, written for this app to stimulate imagination.
