Fun go-to game anywhere

OLO has always been the fun, go-to game for our family whenever we have time to get a best-of-three series in. The new update looks good but there are strange things happening in the game we wish were explained: glowing pieces, strange effects that seem impossible to repeat, etc. I wish these were explained somewhere but there doesn’t seem to be a tutorial or rule set anywhere in game or online? Help?
