Ok

Long Time subscriber

I’ve enjoyed the paper for a long time. Living out of state helps me keep in touch with sports and the Midlands.

Bias Omaha District Garbage ‘Newspaper’

The editors of this media outlet do not represent the great people of the state. Anti-Nebraska value turn started when Trump was reelected. Will be getting my state news elsewhere. Bye

Connection to Community

Reading OWH keeps me more connected to Omaha.

Omaha World Herald

Well made app for quality local journalism

Horrible

Love the WH and the content, but the app is a waste of time. You try to read an article and it continues to minimize. Started to access through a browser. Have no issues that way. So over this app.

I love my Omaha World Herald!

I grew up in Lincoln reading both the Lincoln Journal and the Omaha World Herald.
After graduating from the U of N decades ago, I came to realize that I both needed and wanted to keep up with what’s happening in Lincoln and in Nebraska generally and especially with the Husker men’s and women’s sports teams. The online OWH keeps me very well informed. I still feel very much a Husker and a Nebraskan even though I’ve lived either on the east coast or west coast since my graduation from college.
There is no place like Nebraska. Go Big Red! Thank you OWH!

Opportunities for improvement

The OWH app defaults to featuring mostly sports-related stories. It is very difficult to find the front page stories or the other features stories in the app. The only way to see the front page stories is to view the electronic version of the paper. The front page story should be the featured story on the app.

Review of OWH

Seem to be quite a liberal paper.

Omaha World Herald

Enjoy reading the entire daily newspaper online. The printed version was too expensive and the price varied every time I renewed. The only downside to the app is that it frequently requires re-logging in, even though still logged into the app.

Great when it works

I'm constantly having to delete and reinstall the app because it doesn't recognize my account as being a subscriber. Always works when I reinstall, then randomly stops working again.

Great app - poor notification system

Content is great but the push notifications reset to “off” after each update. And when you click on a notification, you get a paywall notification (doesn’t recognize your logged in). But if you click on home and select the article, it takes you right in. This bug has been consistent for at least 12 months and it would be nice if it was addressed. Plus, lack of notifications reaching users = fewer clicks = less advertising $.

Charged without authorization

I suspended my subscription. I’m a snow bird & don’t need it. I saw an offer for 3 months at $1.00 . That’s worth it to me. Tried to sign up & pay. Kept saying error. I gave up. Called subscription department to say take us off suspension & just stop cancel us. 4 days later got a call i couldn’t take. Week later an apple- world hearld charge appears from Apple for $27.81. It’s was not authorized, approved or requested. They just decided to steel my money, if they could. Steel might be strong but without attention, it’s the same thing. I feel sorry for OMH. Dying industry. There technology & customer service will aid in their demise. Call them & easily resolve the issue. Forget it. Essentially they are not worth the trouble.

Awful layout and ad ridden

Really disappointed with the OWH app. The formatting is awful and the layout is not user friendly. It’s difficult to search for specific articles and as a paying subscriber to the World Herald, I find it surprising that there are so many advertisements still littered throughout the app. Makes for a frustrating user experience.

Worthless app

Links don’t work. Search function doesn’t work. Crashes regularly. Worthless.

Update…App developer response explicitly implies I don’t know how to navigate the app which is causing the problems. Yea, cause I don’t know how to “click” a story/advertisement poorly disguised as a story. Or how to click on 3 week old stories still populating the home page. Yep.

App will not open.

This app will not open on apple. ???

more popup’s than website, reporting truly terrible

this app has more interstitial ads and popups than any website ever did, even in the 90s. it also forgets your sign-in information constantly when the mobile website remembers it. as far as the paper goes, the writing has really gone downhill in the past three years. unsubscribing since a combination of other local outlets do everything better. check out nebraska examiner, silicon prairie news, grow omaha, and huskermax.

Limited content increasingly difficult to access

The app is a perfect mirror of the deterioration of the OWH. Decreasing amount of content, lost in the grid of ads and curated AP stories and click bait. If there was any legit local daily news source, this subscription would be cancelled immediately. Nice job management. #sarcasm font.

Garbage App 0/10

Why do we pay so much for OWH only to have an app filled with ads and videos? A service we pay for should not have such a spammy app. 0/10

Constantly having to log out and back in

If you love logging in and out of apps you’ll love this one. While you’re logged into the app, if you want to read anything beyond the headline, the app makes you sign in. But you’re already signed in, so it won’t work. So then you have to log out, then log back on. It’s ridiculous.
