Bill Hicks

Was watching bill hicks while in the bathroom, gave this a try, very cool you made your own game and students have fun with it. Pretty much unplayable on my little phone. I can see it may be ok on a tablet but on my small screen I wasn’t able to get past the first turn no matter what I tried, I pressed go 20 times or so and got no response from left or right turn, so the only other option was to hold turn before I pressed go but that resulted in a immediate crash. I understand difficulty is intentional but it’s a bit extreme on my size phone that the controls feel unresponsive.

Improvements to be made

I’m gonna be honest here. This is a good idea on paper, it’s easy to understand, simplistic and fun. But it’s execution is subpar. To start the game you press go, I am without warning speeding towards a wall and die. You have to steer right immediately if you don’t want to crash but the controls aren’t responsive enough for that fast of a movement. If you were to have more starting and/or a count down to prepare this issue could be fixed. The track itself is rigid and hard to maneuver around in. The controls aren’t designed for the game, making a less rigid figure 8 and not dying in the first second would make this game more polished and fun to play.

EDIT: I beat the first track and sweet Jesus there’s more. (It took me a little over 200 attempts, why?)

Response from developer

Thank you very much for your honest feedback, and I'm sorry the game wasn't to your liking. It's much better to play on a large phone or tablet. Everything you say is completely true, and some people find those things annoying. However, it might surprise you to hear that it was all done deliberately, in an attempt to make it very challenging. The hope was that it is so difficult that you find it very rewarding when you complete a track. One of my students completed 7 tracks in one evening. So I think for people like him, it's a good job I made it difficult, especially track 8 :) otherwise people would have completed the whole game too quickly. Did it make you keep trying? Did it feel great when you completed track 1? A lot of people have said exactly the same as you by the way, but a lot of people have got addicted to the challenge. Thanks again
