About

You already know what matters most. The trouble is that by Thursday you are carrying four things and finishing none of them. One Thing holds exactly one intention at a time. Not the first item on a list — the only item there is. THE TRADE To name a new one, you have to set down the one you are carrying and say what replaced it. There is no second slot to slip it into, and no someday list to hide it in. The app asks the question a to-do list never asks: is this new thing worth more than the thing you already chose? THE NEXT MOVE One line under the sentence: the smallest physical thing that would move it forward. You rewrite it as you go rather than ticking it off, so opening the app answers "what now" instead of asking you to plan again. THE CARRY LOG What you have said about this thing, in your own words, typed or spoken. The two newest sit under the sentence and the rest are one tap away. Nothing in it is timed, counted, or compared. THE RECORD Everything you have carried, in order, with what displaced what. Weeks later it is the most honest document you have about your own attention — not what you meant to do, but what actually took the place of what. THE CARRY A thing you have held for eleven days is telling you something. That it matters, or that it is too big to be one thing. The app shows you the length and stays out of the argument. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No lists. No someday. No streaks, no scores, no percentages, no leaderboards. Nothing here counts you. The number on the screen is the age of the work you are carrying, not a grade for you — and a day with nothing named is a legitimate day, which the app will say out loud. YOUR WORDS STAY YOURS Everything is stored on your iPhone. There is no account, no sign-up, and no email address to hand over. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, which is off by default and uses your own private iCloud account. No ads. No tracking. No analytics. FREE — ALL OF IT No purchase, no subscription, no unlock, and nothing held back for later. Every part of the app is included: • Displacements — the read across every trade you have made: what keeps winning, what you have named and set down three times, what never survives the week you give it • The one thing on your Home Screen as a widget, in Control Center, and on your Lock Screen • One reminder a day, at an hour you choose — it shows you what you are carrying rather than asking you to prove anything • Export the record as plain text, as a typeset image or a PDF to print, or as a lock screen wallpaper • Four ways to draw the page, a writing face of your own choosing, and full VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support Privacy Policy: https://www.hourlife.com/privacy Terms of Use: https://www.hourlife.com/terms

What's New in One Thing

1.1

August 30, 2026

Everything in the app is now free. Displacements, the daily reminder, the widget and Control Center button, and export as an image, a PDF or a lock screen wallpaper are no longer behind a purchase — there is no purchase. Nothing was taken away and nothing is held back. If you bought the unlock, thank you. Nothing changes for you except that the offer is gone.
