About

Everyone sees the same secret word — except the imposter. Pass one phone around the table. Each player holds it to see their card. The crew all get the same word. The imposter gets a hint, a similar word, or nothing at all. Then you go round the table, one word each, and try to work out who is faking it. FOUR WAYS TO PLAY • Classic — no clock, no voting. Deal the cards and just play. • Arcade — countdown timer, in-app voting and a running score. • Undercover — the imposter gets a similar word and doesn't know they're the imposter. Nobody is sure of anything. • Wordless — the imposter gets nothing at all. Hardest. BUILT FOR REAL TABLES • 3 to 20 players on one phone • Works completely offline — bars, cars, planes • No account, no sign-up, no ads • Nothing is collected about you 2,970 WORDS, 33 CATEGORIES Animals, food, cities, jobs, films, music, nature, tools, flowers, crime, birds and more. Every word has dozens of possible hints, so playing the same word twice is never the same round twice. MAKE IT YOURS Write your own word packs — inside jokes, colleagues, anything. Words the game already knows bring their own hints with them. 18 LANGUAGES English, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Turkish — with full right-to-left support. Every language is fully translated and carries the same 2,970 words across all 33 categories. New words arrive without an app update.

What's New in One Word Out

1.1.0

September 5, 2026

Twice the words, in every language. 33 categories, up from 25 — now with Tools, Materials, Flowers, Crime, Art, Insects, Kitchen and Birds. Every category holds 90 words, so a long evening stops repeating itself. Better hints. Easy, Normal and Hard now genuinely differ, and a hint is about the word itself rather than just a neighbour from the same list. Hide the category during a round, so it cannot give the imposter away. A wrong accusation no longer ends the round: clear that player and vote again. Classic can now settle in the app if you want it to — or stay exactly as it was, with the phone face down. Fixes Classic no longer awards the imposter the round when the table settled it out loud. That path scored an imposter win every round. Hints in Hindi, and in several other languages, were being discarded by an over-eager filter. Hebrew, German, Spanish, Dutch and Chinese were being hinted from English's word order in some categories.
