About
OnTheRecord: Public Ledger helps you look up members of the United States Congress using official government records.
Search every current senator, representative, delegate, and resident commissioner by name, state, office, or party. Results update as you type. Each profile shows the member's office, state, district, and party, with links to the official House or Senate directory and the member's congressional biography, plus the date the information was retrieved.
EVIDENCE YOU CAN INSPECT
Official records come first. The app explains where its information comes from, which sources it excludes, and what it has not verified yet. When something is not loaded, the app says so instead of guessing, and missing information never implies that nothing exists.
HOUSE VOTING RECORDS
See how each representative voted on recent House roll calls, straight from official House Clerk records, with the original vote labels preserved.
COMPARISONS YOU CAN AUDIT
Compare two representatives to see how often they cast the same yes or no vote. Every comparison shows the number of votes counted, the date span, and the votes left out, so you can check the math. Agreement shows how often members voted alike; it does not measure ideology.
NEUTRAL BY DESIGN
The app does not rate politicians, assign favorability scores, or tell you whom to vote for. Party and vote information is always labeled in words, never by color alone.
CANDIDATES AND BILL CONTEXT
Browse saved 2026 U.S. House and Senate candidate lists from 16 state election offices, with official election links for all 50 states. Also search Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings nationwide. A filing does not confirm ballot eligibility or an active campaign. Source dates, coverage gaps, write-ins and withdrawals are labeled. These lists can change; check the official election office before voting.
Open supported bills from vote records to see official GovInfo titles, sponsors, summaries and dated actions. Vote results and enactment are shown separately.
PRIVATE
Your searches and questions stay on your device. The app retrieves public records from official House, Senate and GovInfo websites, and a dated directory snapshot is built in so you can browse offline.
Coverage is United States politics only, starting with Congress. A small set of reviewed historical reports is available with sources and limitations. Live AI answers, live news search, Senate votes, and comprehensive controversy coverage are not available. The app is free with non-personalized advertisements. An optional one-time $0.99 U.S. purchase removes banner and full-screen ads. Restore purchases in Settings. Google may receive device identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions and diagnostic information; your political searches and questions are not supplied for ad targeting. See our privacy policy for details.
