Great idea, needs support.

I like the idea of this app. It it does have some issues with reporting bugs. I played a game yesterday and it did not sync any of my games. It only shows my games from last year. I would like to see where you could add your points in case the app doesn’t sync. Also, scanning the QR code doesn’t work.

Scores cut off on leaderboard

Just started using the app yesterday to track scores at my local bowling alley. Was pretty easy to set up, link to the game in progress, and update names and pictures. Only problem I've encountered so far is the leaderboard scores are cut off for players that have very long names. So it's hard to know what competition I'm up against.

Unknown error occurred

For 3 years I’ve been trying to get this app to work. Every time I try to join game I get an Unknown Error Occurred message. The app is updated, everything is as it should be. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and I get the same unknown error message trying to join the game

Can scan lane

When I try to scan the lane QR code or manually type it in. If I check this is me, it deletes my info and won’t let me save if i retype my info

Unreliable

Application easy to use by scanning QR to join a game. However, even though you joined the game and the application confirms with the bowler names transferred from bowling alley to application. The application inconsistent saves your score and progress post game completion.

App doesn’t work

Join a game and nothing ever shows up. Tried it twice. Neither worked. Don’t waste your time. Downloading this app it’s a waste of space on your phone.

Still lame

It’s been years now and this app is useless. Brunswick systems are a waste of money. Stop trying to milk the Proprietors and offer a decent product or just open the API and let others play. This year we can’t even seem to join a league game. Not that it really gives you any “features”.

Buggy

I keep losing all of my stats under “pro metrics”

Plenty of opportunities to make it better

For awhile we were using Lane talk-able to track your progress, percentage on your progress on strikes, spares, splits, etc. Also able to follow PBA bowlers, friends and family. The app could be way better if it followed that pattern. It would be really helpful if it showed my progress on my stats (percentages on strikes, splits, spares, etc). Development team needs to really consider this suggestion so bowlers who use this app can see their progress and stats

Eh

It let me join games at first but won’t let me anymore. I join like normal, but my scores aren’t saved. The last game I see on there was in January

App works fantastic!!

Have not received my email for the months of bowling

It’s been months and still no email for bowling. I go bowling a lot and need that new monthly bowling email. If someone can help that would be appreciated. I would give it 5stars because it is a good app but need that monthly email.

doesnt detect where you are

standing inside the bowling alley and it cant find the bowling alley im at, useless app pretty much

River Lanes

I tried the app the first time. I bowled 7 games and nothing worked. After every game I asked for assistance. Yes they use Brunswick Sync, yes I was on their WiFi, and they were unable to scan the QR code, it went to a blank page. Will try again. I signed up on the free app.

Nutzlos

This is worthless

I have been bowling for 30+ years. This app is junk. The positive: it doesn’t crash. Other than that. All you do is join a game and select “this is me”. You can’t see other lanes , scores etc. or even any of the useless stats that the scoring system displays when you actually bowl. This was written by developers (and product managers) that are out of touch with the actual sport and community that bowls. It’s 2025, I saw better scoring and interfaces in the 90’s that were buried under patent. Brunswick step up the game or get out of it!

Response from developer

We're sorry that the experience with the app wasn't what you were expecting. We've completely redesigned the app with a fresh experience focused on the most requested enhancements by both centers and bowlers, but we are always looking to improve. We are happy to talk more about it by having you reach out to apps@brunswickbowling.com

Great Update!

I just got into bowling this year and was excited to track my stats over time with OpenLane, only to realize the app was basically just a score history at best. This new update adds loads of stats and I can’t wait to keep bowling and work to improve on them. I was also wishing for the ability to delete games because some of my practice rounds I focus on something specific like a change to my form or spare shooting and don’t worry about the score. It seems as though they added the ability to “hide” games, but at the moment it’s not working for me. If I hide games nothing changes in my stats. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Really solid

Previously i complained about a few things related to adding yourself to a lane and getting scores and both things seemed to have been addressed server-side. There's now a seamless experience in and out of the bowling alley. Really like this app now and would bump my review from three to four and a half stars if I could. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5/5 is I wish you had the ability to add friends to share/compare scores with. I have some friends I frequently bowl with but we don't always go together, so it'd be cool if we could see each others games when we aren't bowling together.

"Reward points"

Our local bowling alley has the sync scoring system using the OpenLane app, but does not take loyalty points as payment. I can't find a listing of alleys that does accept points. Blah blah garbage.

Unlike some other apps, this app won't tell you your most common missed, splits or suggest corrections. You can do better Brunswick.
