About

Orthodox Day is a quiet companion for the Orthodox Christian day. TODAY Open it to see what the readings of today: the Epistle and Gospel in full, the saint or saints commemorated, and the fast for the day. Choose your church (Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, OCA or Antiochian Archdiocese) and the readings follow its New Calendar. THE FATHERS ON THE READING Under each reading, a section from the Church Fathers on that passage, with Saint John Chrysostom and the other Eastern Fathers first. Every excerpt is a verbatim section of a public-domain English translation, shown with its Father, work and series. Tap "Read more" for the whole section. HOW ARE YOU FEELING? Anxious, grieving, grateful, tempted, angry, lonely, weary or joyful: say how you are, and read one passage of Scripture, a few lines from the Fathers about that very thing, and a single question. Then keep sixty seconds of quiet while a ring of gold tesserae goes out one by one, ending on Amen. No journal, no text field, no streaks. THE SAINTS Tap "See more" for the lives of the saints of the day, from the Prologue from Ochrid by Saint Nikolai Velimirović. PRAYERS Morning and evening prayers, the prayers before and after Holy Communion, the Creed, the Trisagion, meal prayers and more. READ IT YOUR WAY - Read in the World English Bible, the King James Version or the Douay-Rheims. - Psalms follow the Septuagint numbering, as in church. - A classic or sans-serif reading font, adjustable text size, light and dark. - Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show the day's Gospel and the fast. - Twenty well-loved verses as wallpapers, sized to your iPhone and saved to Photos. - Save readings to find again later. Saved readings and your choices sync through your own iCloud. - Optional reminders for morning and evening prayers, the saint of the day and the fast. - Works on iPhone Duo: read the day across both screens QUIET BY DESIGN No account. No ads. No tracking. The readings and prayers are bundled in the app and work without a connection, even in airplane mode.
