About

OSI - Olfactory Stress Index is the tool designed for dog handlers who want to plan scent work sessions with greater awareness of environmental conditions. A detection dog's performance is deeply influenced by the surrounding environment. High temperatures, excessive humidity, strong wind or poor air quality can significantly reduce the dog's olfactory capabilities, increase physical stress and compromise the results of the activity. OSI was created to address this need: providing the handler with objective, clear and immediate data about current conditions. The app automatically detects the GPS location and calculates in real time the Olfactory Stress Index, a numerical value from 0 to 100 that combines multiple environmental factors into a single score. The result is presented with an operational verdict ranging from Optimal to Critical, accompanied by a detailed description of the situation and practical guidance for the handler. Key features: Real-time OSI calculation based on GPS location Combined analysis of temperature, humidity, wind speed and air quality Immediate operational verdict with description and practical advice Identification of the most critical environmental factor at the current moment Interactive wind map with speed, direction and impact on olfactory activity Automatic physiological threshold: above 29 degrees Celsius the score is capped at the High level Complete guide to environmental factors and their interpretation OSI is not a certified scientific measurement tool, but a theoretical decision-support model for dog handlers. The parameters used are based on general data from published scientific literature in the field. Results do not replace the handler's direct assessment or veterinary judgment.
