Disappointment!
We cannot use the app because we cannot add books on the iPad 10th Gen (2025). For the cost of the product, this is disappointing!
Doesn’t detect books, useless app
Since the whole point of the reading adventure set was to interact with this app, which doesn’t detect any of the books no matter what we try, this app is pretty pointless. There doesn’t seem to even be a way to contact osmo to get a fix for this issue, and I see many similar reviews.
Does not detect book
Tried multiple times to troubleshoot. Even got a new reflector. Does not detect books. Finally came here to read reviews and looks like it’s an issue for others as well. Complete waste. Very sad child.
Not working
My son just got it for Christmas and we are trying to install it and it keep saying they the device is not compatible and we have the 14 pro max iPhone and the 14 so I don’t get why it keep giving us the same problem with all the phone in the house, I was so happy to be able to get this device for my son but now I regret it so much because my son can even use it.

Do not waste your money
The app no longer detects the books. For a set that you have to spend $50-60 to get, only to have the app not work is so pointless. OSMO is going bankrupt and I can see why. Completely terrible. There is no help available on their website either.
can’t log in
very upset we’ve been using Osmo for years now and its kicked us out from all our account and there website for help is also inactive. now we have all this money invested and desire to play something that does not work and has no customer service to help. i do not feel i need to create a new email for a new account to also loose the history my my child’s works/accomplishments.

App Not Working
Everything was working until a few days ago when we were presented with the account login and continue setup page. I cannot log in to my existing account and I can’t use a new email address. It says try again later. I can’t even go to your website because I get an error page with “DNS points to prohibited IP.” We can’t use the code to finish setup even though it was already setup.
I cannot play any of the Osmo games. The same thing is happening on those games too. What’s going on?

A fun way to practice reading
I’ve used this program since it came out. We love the magic wand activities.- sight words and comprehension. The books have always been easy to add. I’ve not encountered a problem with that. I find the voice recognition works well even with mild articulation errors. I highly recommend a microphone as sometimes my child speaks a bit softly, especially when puzzling out a word. We sit together and do this so if the occasional word help is needed, we can move through it quickly. Great program! We love the subscription. Sometimes I get asked to just sit and read the books together, no app. That speaks to good storytelling too.

Cannot detect books
The app is not able to detect the books which mean I spend hundred to bought 12 paper book!!! It wasted my money and time! I tried to contact customer service but they only suggest me to adjust for the reflector which I use it in other Osmo app is super smooth.

In short, this could be a good app for a precocious reader who likes the game, but if you are hoping it will support a struggling reader this will likely not help them because it lacks explicit, systematic instruction. It doesn’t teach your kids things sound by sound, from the beginning, so it might be a good supplement to a curriculum but it by no means “teaches your child to read” as they claim, unless your child happens to be really good at figuring out the phonetic code on their own.

Not working
All my other Osmo apps are working fine except this one. It was initially detecting books but the 2nd time using the app it will not detect anything. Only for this specific game not the other Osmo apps which lead me to believe it’s an app issue and is not an issue with my iPad or reflector. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it will not detect anything. I’ve used the Osmo detector app and it is working fine. Please fix this app so that I can utilize the books I’ve spent money on.

So Frustrating
I just ordered the beginner books for my son. We were both so excited to use them only to find that I could add the books into the app. I tried EVERYTHING with no luck. You would think that there was a way to just type in the books but no, you have to submit a ticket and wait to hear from someone. I really want to like this company but they make it really hard.

No longer detects books
This app was okay for practicing reading until now when it won’t even detect the books. I’ve been disappointed with how it hears and corrects reading as it is (as mentioned by other reviewers), but now that it won’t even detect the books it’s completely useless. I’d come to expect more from Osmo.
Unusable
I loved this little program initially but for some reason it stopped picking up the books and now is unusable. I’ve been in contact with the support team for two months with no one offering any way to fix or remedy the issue so basically just wasted my money on this program.

Love mostly everything osmo but doesn’t recognize books
It’s super cute and creative but I have to move the book around so much that my child loses interest. The animation is cute and fun but it doesn’t understand what my kid says. It will be perfect once they work out those issues.
App doesn’t see books
I really wanted to like this but I feel like I was scammed hundreds of dollars. Does not recognize books more than half the time. By the time I get it working my kids have lost interest. Basically unusable.

A lot of bugs in the app. Support is very slow and barely helpful.
The story is very short and then there’s not much to do.
Voice recognition is very bad, any noise can be recognized as my child attempt to speak.

Voice recognition is useless
Voice recognition system needs to be changed. My kid kicks a chair or a table and the app recognizes it as words. So useless and disappointing
