Great app and Awesome support
Otter has became invaluable part of my PhD. I am not one to use Generative AI application in any academic settings, since writing, reading, evaluation and communication are all important parts of the scientific process.
However, I have pretty bad ADHD and even though I try to focus on my meetings with supervisors and necessary lectures (shocker, PhD student still attends lectures), I couldn’t possibly get everything down.
The summary alone would already be super helpful, since I tend to miss a lot of things under those settings, the overview and action items function allow me to do quick reviews and follow up works. I can also use custom instructions to focus the topics and key points that are importantly.
I have also reached out to their customer support recently, and they were super helpful and friendly, over all I’d recommend otter as the go to transcription software.

Simple to use, excellent results
Otter is my go-to for transcriptions. One tap right on the home page, and you’re transcribing. The app then offers numerous ways to export the data. I’ve used it for years, excellent app.
By far the best transcript option
I’ve tried to use several of the services and all of them are complex and confused. Use different devices and don’t have as easy an interface as otter.ai
I use this prompts that automatically populate with key stroke, actions that make more concise but list and found this two have been a miraculous improvement in my workflow

It’s now my lifeline
It’s smooth, rarely breaks, does a good job listening (even in crowded rooms, etc it records well) and I’m a big fan of this app.

Do not rely on this app. It’s very glitchy and you’ll receive no help from customer service or Apple. I’ve lost so much time and none of my meetings were recorded.

Did not record the entire meeting
The only thing that was recorded was the salutation. Missing The entire meeting. It didn’t record anything at all.

One of the most helpful apps I use
Otter is one of the most helpful apps I have. I use it to dictate speeches and teachings so that I can have a transcript to start editing. I use it to record meeting notes with multiple people in the room because it can distinguish different speakers and then we have a basic transcription to use for meeting minutes. I have found it to be one of the most accurate for vocal transcription, and while I have not utilized much of its AI capacity, I have used the transcriptions with other AI models with great success.
