Love the content
Outside really needs to get their app organized. When I have a notification on the app icon that there is a message or new news story I might interested in, and then click on the app to open it, I see no link or reference to the “new” story. All I get sometimes is a story that I have already read and in some cases it’s several months old. Logically one would think when opening an app that is delivering news, the most recent stories would appear and then in descending order the older stories. Not with the Outside app. Really annoying 😕

Always something good to read
Plus - Gaia GPS - subscription was an easy decision for me.
Worst app I have
I want to love this app. I have read Outside affiliated articles for years and was stoked when they created an app vs needing to use a browser. But this app is just terrible. It will show me the same articles over and over again (half the time my google feed shows me new or old articles I’ve never seen before the app does). If I was halfway through reading and stop suddenly, it becomes impossible to find unless I can remember the specific name of the article to search. The algorithm definitely does not understand what I enjoy reading. I would absolutely NOT pay for this if it didn’t come with Gaia because I actually use Gaia.

Junk App and Publication
What a waste. I’ve subscribed to Outside for 35 years. I just cancelled. This app experience is a horrible joke, and the reporting has gone downhill after they laid off and fired most of the editorial team and their star journalists.
Reporting is now meek and lacks the investigative authority they once carried. No longer will they take politicians to task for their failings in the Outdoor space. The reviews seem to cheer for all and fail to take a position of which product is best.
Sure seems like Outside is targeting the lowest common denominator, seeking clicks rather than meaningful journalism, and pandering to the right wing and their advertisers rather than producing for their audience and customers.
Shame on Robin Thurston for ruining a stalwart American journalism.

Wish they’d figure it out
I’ve been a longtime subscriber and would read cover to cover. The app just seems harder to find the content I like. Why do I have to go to the website to find the gear guide? How will I know it’s out? Really wish they’d make it more user friendly because most of the content is still good - it’s just hard to find.

Screen rotation
Installed app and signed in. After app opened the orientation of article I wanted to read would not rotate. Garbage!
I subscribed to Outside+ with Gaia gps. Should allow me to use the trailfork app as an included benefit but app would not let me log in. Chatbot help said I should change password. Why would I want to change password and update every app and login associated with the outside+ family of content? Total scam I say! I feel like they make it difficult so I can’t use the content I have paid for. I asked for a refund and they simply said no, that all they could do is not auto-renew in a year. So I have paid for a year of Gaia gps. And a bunch of extras I can’t use
Avoid at all costs

The App Crashes
This app isn’t working. It crashes when you try to open.
Inspiring
Because no matter how much you accomplish there are people who push harder
Bummed
I got outside+ because I liked the training advice, like four weeks to sending and finger training and how to get better foot work. Now I can’t find any of that information. What happened?
Convenient for saving and reading articles, frustrating to use or provide links
It’s nice to have a dedicated place for all of Outside’s articles on my phone but two big criticisms.
1. The search function is just terrible. It’s better than the website, but wish there were more filters to refine a search. At least the first results aren’t from 1998 and unrelated to what I was searching for unlike the website.
2. When I open links from Outside’s newsletter, they open automatically in my browser rather than the app. And there’s not a prompt to open the article in the app. Similarly, when I’ve linked to recipes in my family’s meal plan from the app, and accessed the meal plan from another device to click on the link, rather than sending me to the website on the laptop without the app, I was redirected to a link to download the app. It seems like the website and app are pulling from different sources since there’s no crossover. I’m not a tech-savvy person or designer, but it seems like there should be something in the links that sees if you have the app, and if so opens the app and if not opens the website, similar to Instagram (hate that I used that positively).

Awful App & AppleTV Browser
The design of the apps is atrocious. It’s incredibly difficult to find programs. The presorted themes don’t indicate if it’s a film or a 2 minute episode, and the episodes don’t ever indicate the series. Looking at the AppleTV app right now, under Other I could select Ep1 (pic of runners) or Ep1 (picture of different runners) or Ep 6 (fella in front of a community garden)…why is this such a bum design? I find it frustrating that it’s difficult to find something later when it appeared to be something worth coming back to. Also, the app does not let you save shows to watch on the road, so you’ll always need data to use it.

Try to cancel plus & best of luck
I just want to cancel plus, again, but all I get are canned responses. Trailforks was $2 a month, now it’s $80 a year for garbage I don’t want.
Terrific!
Everything I want to use and read is right here.
Horrible app
Extremely buggy, unable to change video quality even though that seems to be a feature. Not optimized for performance on iPhone. Needs a complete rework.
Beware
This membership came for free with my purchase of the Ikon pass. Unbeknownst to me, they automatically turn on auto renewal. So I was hit with a charge the following year when I didn’t even want the membership. From almost day one, I had trouble logging into my account. I had to reset my password multiple times. Luckily it let me reset it to finally turn off auto renewal. Very frustrating

Do I need to cancel one day after purchasing?
I've wanted to subscribe and read and watch Outside's content for some time now. But the Roku Outside TV doesn't recognize me and the Outside app crashes when I try to play something with AirPlay. I'm not going to pay this money to watch things on my iPhone. I want my husband and I to sit together and watch content on our tv together. Based upon what I see here in the other comments, I'm skeptical I will get a response. The Help section of the app just keeps directing me to articles that don't answer my questions.
REVIEW UPDATE: Developer response was that I could watch on the Apple TV app. Clearly responder did not read my review mentioning the app crashing.
