Overall review
I’ve been looking for an interesting genetics game that I can play just about anymore vs browser games like Lioden. This one achieves exactly that!
Pros:
-You can create your own projects
-Engaging, overall positive community
-Research for mutations with new mutations being added regularly
-They also appear to be considering new species to add
Con:
-There is technically a paywall. HOWEVER, there is a way around having to spend money on the game.
The game itself allows other players to send in-game paid for currency to others or has what they call a paid token. Because of the friendly community, users who purchase these can send them to unpaid players, this allows free to play (ftp) players to become paid players permanently. There are jobs in the game you can do for users that are offering up these methods to become paid or occasionally you can find giveaways for them.

The game play is engaging if you love playing around with genetics. It can take time to get used to, but there are guides and players that offer to help others learn the game. Breeding can be done for specific colours, mutations, or both. Definitely a permanent game in my opinion!

Amazing
Honestly I haven’t been addicted to a game like this in a long time and I love it. It would be cool if it was possible to add a mass naming system like if you have tags on some pets you could mass name them. But honestly I love the game!

Love this game!
I’ve been a member since 2014, and I have to say I’m incredibly impressed with the new app! It has made the game much more enjoyable and has really enhanced the overall gameplay experience.
The breeding system is so much easier to use, and the improved search features are fantastic—they save so much time and make finding what you’re looking for a breeze.
My only wish is that the hatchery was unlimited, like it is on the web version. Because of that, I still find myself switching back and forth between the app and the website. If the hatchery were expanded, the app would be nearly perfect for me.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the direction the game has taken and can’t wait to see what comes next. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun, engaging pet-breeding experience with an amazing community!

Fix please
I love this game I just recently discovered it and I can’t get enough of it. The only thing is of recently it’s been messing up or disconnecting me a lot. I would appreciate it if it’s looked into.

Thank you! 😊 Disconnects are usually related to connection stability — try switching between WiFi and mobile data to see if that helps. Glad you're loving the game!
Still no tutorial..
I remember playing this a while ago on pc. I couldn’t get into it as the ui was so confusing plus there not being a tutorial is wack! How are you supposed to get new players when you won’t even do a tutorial. Picking this up again on the phone in hoping there was a tutorial just to find out there isn’t was a massive let down.. even a paragraph of what to do would have been handful but NOTHIN. I will not be wasting my time on the game a third time!

this game is a neopets ripoff that teaches you next to nothing. enjoy wandering around the application not knowing how to do a single thing. it took days to figure basic functions out and apparently it’s normal for things like research to take….three days or more? I’ve lost interest and forgotten about this app before the timer is even done. the fact people PAY for this blows my mind.

The research and hatching timers are intentional to balance progression — OviPets is a long term game rather than something you complete quickly. Ui ux are annoying
PLEASE hire an experienced UI/UX designer who knows what he’s doing 🙏🏻 current interface is BAAD and very frustrating to navigate. I will stay on browser mobile version
Long time player please read!
Hey! This game has incredible depth once you get the hang of it. For anyone saying you NEED to spend money on the app to play, they’re wrong. The paid features are there to help prevent “account abuse” while frustrating at first, it’s also quite necessary as you can only have one account. Some people have played years without a paid membership and have just utilized the paid community’s (real people) kindness and willingness to help where possible. The community is amazing and so helpful, you can ask a question and it’s usually answered within 15 minutes. I read some other reviews and they say that you need to have a membership in order to gain paid access, this is wrong too. ANY one time purchase grants you paid status for life. If you wish to continue supporting the Ovi team, you can continue with your purchases, but you do not need to as there are ways to earn currency in game. What some people are mistaking as a pay to play is Ovi+ this IS a membership but you do not need this in order to play. Ovi+ is “quality of life” and keeps your pets fed, cuts down on hatching times, research times, etc. long time players usually have Ovi+. In any case if you have a question about anything, ask it on one of the community posts any someone will answer ASAP, there are no “dumb” questions. Please ask!

Amazing community
Like the title says, the community is amazing. The pets are fun to breed. It’s not something that forces you to pay real money to have fun or participate.
However, I’d love to see two slight changes to the app.
1. In the friends section on browser, there’s a friend requests section. I’d like to see that in app as well. It took a week to figure out how to accept them in app (go to their profile and click the settings wheel at the bottom)
2. In the pets search feature, it’d be amazing to be able to set a filter to exclude or specifically search for pets in a project. (The amount of Slime Halation is honestly obscene in searching adoptable pets.)

It’s Pay-To-Play
I used to play this game when I was younger on web, but gave up when I couldn’t do any of the basic game mechanics without paying a subscription. Was hoping it got better but if anything it’s way worse. You can’t do anything without the in game currency, which pretty much can only be gained through real money. For example, the whole point of the game is to breed and mutate creatures, but you can’t buy them without being a paid member, and you can’t mutate them without loads of in-game cash. Would rather just spend $10 on a functioning game than pay a subscription indefinitely

Thank you for the honest feedback! Free players can breed their own pets and earn credits through egg turning — the paid account requirement only applies when credits transfer between players to prevent abuse. Pets can also be mutated by breeding which costs nothing.

The pets are amazing and the community is pretty welcoming! I've been playing for a couple months now and have absolutely loved breeding pets. I 100% recommend trying Ovipets out!

I love the realistic complexity of the genetics and the complexity of the colors.
Bit of a cash grab
I love the game and the concept of collecting pets and finding new color and mutation combinations through breeding, however, if you want to buy pets rather than adopting, you HAVE to pay for a membership. It’s not crazy expensive, but people should at least be able to either bid in auctions or buy individual pets without a membership. I think it’d make the game more enjoyable, maybe even keep people playing or coming back to play. Other than that, everything is pretty fun! Getting to see so many different colors and mutations, along with all the different animals and endless possibilities in combinations.

huge learning curve
I’ve never downloaded a game before that explained so little to me. they give the bare minimum knowledge to “feed your pets and turn your eggs so they don’t go bad”, you figure out everything else yourself.

Basically Impossible To Login
Really impossible to log in. I used apple passcode and email and password but it still said "Invalid User". Please make login easier
What?
It’s so annoying opening an app and having to make an account. I didn’t understand the game at all even thought I read all the info and held the logo in various screens for more information. I figured out how to adopt a pet, eventually, but couldn’t understand why I could adopt it and not others. Don’t know how: breeding, genetics, or literally anything in this game worked. It had seemingly no explanation and the dashboard was hectic. Maybe Im simply stupid but the hunger function and many others just didn’t display/work. I also don’t know whats fun about a game that’s only purpose is to post your pets and interact with others. (No gameplay as far as I could tell). My suggestion would be like a short display screen explaining the point and or what to do in this “game”. I was on for 20 minutes and couldn’t tell your squat about this game.

Check out our Help section or ask in community chat and someone will walk you through it. It does have a learning curve but there's a lot of depth once it clicks!
Fun but seems buggy
Basically a things are not showing up or are not working though, it could just be me but there’s no tutorial to teach you what to do I was quite lost there’s no way to tell what you should do first. Or if there is, it did not show up for me.
Example: I can’t place a bid when I have enough, it’s all just very confusing and I wish things were clearer, since the lack of direction is confusing and even with the info here provided it almost feels like they expect you to know this

ITS AN APP???
Omg so I’ve played this game for several years now cuz my sister in law introduced me to it and I’ve loved it ever since!! It can be kinda hard to be online sometimes to actually play so I’m over the moon to have been scrolling on here to see this app!!!
