Own Translate helps you understand and communicate across languages while keeping your words on your device. Choose your languages, type or paste text, and get natural translations powered by a local AI model. Translate the way you need to: • Type, paste, or dictate text with live voice input • Translate text from photos you take or choose from your library • Import text-based PDFs and .txt files for on-device document translation • Listen to translations aloud and view pronunciation help for supported languages • Detect the language in your text and switch with a tap • Save translations and photos for later, or build a personal phrasebook Private by design Your translations, OCR processing, language detection, and saved items stay on your device. The translation model is downloaded once during setup; after that, Own Translate does not send your words to a remote translation service. Made for your hardware Own Translate selects a compatible local TranslateGemma model based on your device. A recent iPhone with sufficient memory and several gigabytes of free storage is recommended for the initial model download. Supported languages English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Some features require device permissions, such as camera, photo library, microphone, and speech recognition. PDF translation supports text-based PDF files.
